river raft ride.

After riding about a half dozen of these "river rapid" type rides around the country, Kali River Rapids is definitely the tamest of them all. It's like they did everything they could to minimize high speeds, bumps and sudden stops. And I've been on KRR maybe 10 times and it's all the same. I wish it would be more like the IOA Popeye ride in its recklessness and unpredictability.

The main theme behind Kali is being against deforestation and against cutting tress and stuff like that. I find that a bit contradicting, because I wonder how many tress Disney cut down to make that ride.

I like KRR. There are better water rides out there...there are better water rides in Orlando! But it is a fun ride. :)

really thinking about it....how many days are needed in off season? 3 should do it eh? you dont need a week like in WDW? PS i love how everything is so close.

I loved Disneyland...but spent the same for a few days compared to a few more at the world! (stayed on property out there, which isn't necessary...but I enjoy it)

Come for 3 days on your first trip. That is enough to get a decent sampling. On your second trip, you can come for longer and see more of the shows and details around the parks. :)

Well, after watching the video for Grizzly Run, I have to say it definitely has a better show to it, and two drops, a bit more rough than Kali. One of these days I will make to DL and DCA. Probably in two years when WDW is a complete mess with construction going on at two parks if the rumors are true.

notice the section that is you know...real rapids? not a fake elephant pi**ing on you? i do enjoy kalis drop and layout fine...cut costs i don't mind much but i really really want to hammer the lack of theming...the entire park was all foresty...and there like hey...who needs theming we have all these plants...chuckle...it happened.

I don't really think GRR fits in with the theme of Asia in the Animal Kingdom. Although I don't really care for Kali either so..

but...an asian temple or ruins or something....the thing i loved about the GRR video is the caves...and tunnel areas. with lighting.

That's how 90% of rapids rides are, though. Kali was the first to have a drop I believe, and only a handful have been built with drops since then.

What makes Kali disappointing is the short length, the lack of many scenes besides plants, and that the actual rapids are extremely tame. If it wasn't for the drop and things splashing you, you would not even get wet. You basically just kind of bob along the river on Kali, there's no out of control, crazy feeling that makes other rapids rides fun.
