RIP Princess Leia. And now her dear mother, Debbie Reynolds.

But then again, the stakes are high. Would it be any wonder that Luke is wrestling with the dark side of The Force. Obviously, IX ends on a high happy note bringing conclusion to the 9 episode saga.
What I don't want from IX is for the original trio (plus Lando and Chewie) to all be dead. Unfortunately, now that Carrie is gone, I can see that potentially happening.

What I would like to see in Episodes VIII or IX is for Laura Dern's character to actually be Mara Jade. That's major wish fulfillment, I know, but I'd still like to see it happen.

Prayers for Mark Hamill then. Regardless, if Luke's character dies, it will probably feel "right" and he becomes a Force ghost. Maybe he lets himself be killed fighting Ren just as Obi Wan did with Vader. That then sets up Rey. We'll just have to see.

I bet they're going to do it, if Leia survives VIII (which I'm sure she will). They did it in Rogue One with middling results, they have 3 years to perfect the tech.

The difference is CGI for characters who already appeared in movies that take place chronologically after Rogue One. If filming is done with VIII, okay, but IX is a new episode. Use CGI to establish her death if they must but please, don't keep her "alive" through the entirety of the movie.
