Ridiculous rumors.

I hope your experience is universal. I have yet to have a Disney trip where internet and/or cellular coverage hasn't been a gripe.

On the cruise ship, I understand (though I will be paying for internet up front, but I get it if it's slow or clunky), but Anaheim and Orlando? No...I don't get it.
Cell phone was bad but I thought it was because I have Sprint...

A few years ago a CM told me a wild rumor that would see A Nightmare Before Christmas dark ride being built where the former Hunchback of Notre Dame Stage Show was located at in Hollywood Studios.

I have Sprint as well, and it is certainly carrier specific. So bad that last year I brought a Verizon (partner with Disney) pre-paid phone, which worked well, but not something I'd like to use to sit on a conference call with a vendor.

Do you have to pay extra for it?

No, it's free. Frankly, I wish they'd kept the copper option in the rooms for a charge, considering they offer the Wifi free. The only year I had decent internet at Disney was 2011, when they had reinstated copper at CBR (in 2010 they were "testing" Wifi there)...

In Anaheim they also had copper, which worked great. And the Wifi in the room also worked very well, but if you went more than 10 feet away from the hotel, it dropped. Annoying, considering I would much rather have sat at the outdoor fireplace and worked than my room.

I've never been one to discount any rumor as ridiculous when it comes to Disney. Imagine back in the 80's you hear a rumor that a planned log flume ride is in the works to be themed around the banned Song Of The South film.
Splash Mountain was given the o ahead following the successful theatrical re-release of Song of the South in 1986 and would open at Disneyland in 1989. It has only been since then that the film has become obscure and forgotten.

This isn't the parks, but that Disney was going to buy dreamworks...

This is not all that crazy as anybody who went to see Lincoln saw the Touchstone title card and the Dreamworks title card before the film. While it is only a distribution deal, most people probably just assume that its all the same. It should also be noted, since it does not seem to be widely know, that Dreamworks Animation split off from Dreams and is its own separate entity.

Quite frankly I think Dreamworks SKG should rebrand and let Dreamworks Animation have the name it's better known for.

I remember seeing somewhere (forgot where) that the STOL Port would be re-opened for commercial use. To a normal person this could seem real though to pilots (like me, even though it is obvious) there is no chance of it re-opening to airlines because all basic airport infrastructure and proper safety equipment is removed. Though it would be interesting if Disney opened the STOL Port as a small airfield for families to fly to.

On a long list of things that I don't worry about while I'm at WDW (doing laundry, cutting the grass, washing the car, vacuuming, cleaning the bathroom, changing the sheets, grocery shopping, cooking, just to name a few), not having WiFi is somewhere between cleaning the bathroom and cutting the grass.
