I did not realize that skyway was indeed gone in WDW until now
:(. It was already gone at DL in '98 so I was all prepared to miss it at WDW in '99 but it was still there so I rode it three times - one of my fav rides! It was still listed as an attraction in the 2001 unofficial guide so I was hoping it was still around - sob, sniff :(. I think the loss of the people mover at DL is a major pity. If you had a cool ride on the same track, not too bad, but to now have nothing and I've read rumors of taking out the track entirely, what a shame. I think I will be sad for awhile now.

Ob boy-- Small World CANNOT go. I'd like to see all the classics stay but that especially is *the* trademark ride- the first thing most people think of when they hear Disney World/ Land.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I would pull the plug on, but I agree with whomever said BodyWars needs redoing.

I say take out the Living Seas and Make it part of AK. Then replace it with a land of sorts, not just a ride dedicated to Figment

Sheeeesh!!

What's with all these messages about "take this out, change this..get rid of this.. this sucks"..

Am I the only one that has fun on everything I go on? Am I the only one that doesn't go on the rides to pick out what's wrong with them? I like to leave any cynicism behind when I enter the parks! (Not to say I'd feel good about anyone being rude to me there, but that's different).

There's so much complaining about this or that ride..... I'd keep all the rides listed. The *only* thing I could see changing is moving the Living Seas to AK because it fits the theming better (since they are live animals).

I know that sometimes rides need to be replaced but I like most of what is at WDW. The only thing I might replace would be Alien Encounter.

I am guessing that all of the "votes" for Small World and Speedway are cast by people that don't have kids. My kids love them both and even thought the speedway is LAME, we always have to ride it. I think that it is important to remember that a lot of WDW is still about kids and not every kids ride can be replaced with something for adults.

Attention! We cannot get rid of Disney Classics. I am still torn up over the loss of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Yes, we have to move forward , but we must not forget the all important Disney Past. Rides like jungle cruise and it's a small world are Classics. The Jungle Cruise was at Disneyland in 1955 when it opened. The classics must remain. If I had to get rid of an attraction, it would be Timekeeper. But Everyone: LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE!!! Some of us would like our kids to have the opportunity to grow up on the same attractions we did. They are classics.

I really don't think anything NEEDS to be removed right now, but a couple could be redone. A few of the movies in the Wonders of Life pavilion could stand to be reshot - they contain some not-so-modern clothes and cultural references.

As for It's a Small World, they should never take it out. It has the one truly original theme in Fantasyland, and the idea of people of all nationalities and races living and enjoying life together is an idea that should be conveyed even MORE often, in my opinion.

However, the IASM @ DL could stand a canopy or something, as you are outside when you board, and if the line to deboard backs up (which is a fairly regular occurence) you sit out in the open and FRY!! No A/C, no shield, nothing! I can imagine it's even more fun if you get backed up in the RAIN! Oh well.

Dudes, and possibly Dudesses also...

1) Whats with this BS about gutting CoP? C'mon, you know it! Everyone loves it...same with TK, although, it should be 3D...there hasn't been a 3D movie there since Magic Journeys, and now PhilharMagic.

2) The Speedway is only there because Goodyear is paying for it and it draws a HUGE crowd...you can always pull/push on the lever on the side that the CM's use to make you go faster to enhance the "thrill"

3) TLS doesn't need to go...simply completely redone...see the post on TLS in the "imagineering" forum.

4) O'Canada needs a desperate revamp...whoever likes it has only been on it once....or lives in Canadia...:hammer:

5) I don't understand the point of these Epcot Pavilions like Italy and Morroco that only have restaurants...and not even good ones...(The first time I ate at "Alfredo's" or whatever, the food sucked and it cost $100+...there were four of us...don't think i could eat 100 bucks of food by myself )

6) All the dumb "shows" like Beauty & the Beast, Lion King @ AK, etc.....when was the last time ANY of us have seen those movies? at least 5 years!

Indy can stay, or get its own nice, e-tix attraction like DL...MGM is in desperate need of one

7) Rehab for WoL and TT....TT utilizes so much empty space! unless its maintenence....but I doubt that.

8) Expect a new rehab for SE soon...its been almost 10 years since the last one.

9) Swiss Family Treehouse....its a tree with paths....burn it...we need some paper.

Enough ranting for now!

Ian

BTW, if anyone wants one, I can sell you a new PC w/ a P4 @ 1.6 ghz for <500 + s/h! email me at webmaster@totallyrandomstuff.com ! thx!

I despise Jungle Cruise intently. It needs to be, not redone, not revamped, just........gutted for a much better ride. Come on Disney, rip that crap out of there for something entertaining.

J/C I believe should get several new animatronics (especially in the temple..the tiger's green eyes just don't cut it). Sure, here and there...but it just has that Walt touch! :)

I wouldn't miss Indy. I think it has run it's course long enough. Same with Catastrophe Canyon on the Backlot tour.

I also wouldn't miss the movies in the country pavillions. I think the only good one is France and that's because you can sit down!

I've heard they are thinking about a way to make a path from BTMRR to Fantasyland on the other side of the river. That would be difficult because there are a lot of backstage stuff back there and that would really take some moving around of things.

If they did, it wouldn't be just a path but have attractions along it. Another "land" maybe?

speedway

I honestly never thought that the speedway was a waste of space, but I've changed my mind. I beginning to see the waste of space that thing is as well as the restaurant across the way. Come to think of it there are quite a few rides in Tomorrowland that could go, making room for more technologically advanced attractions without losing any classic disney features. This would make T'land "E" ride central, pulling crouds from SM & BTM, and hopefully giving Space Mountain some relief.

Among my list of rides to go..

Timekeeper
T' speedway
Alien Encounter

Oh and while your at it you could update the coaster in Space Mountain leaving the exterior as is.

I think this could give MK the boost it needs to compete with the thrill parks, without loosing sight of the legacy (i.e. Magic)

Why does Disneyworld need a boost to compete with the thrill parks? Are they suffering because of it? I thought crowds were picking back up. There seems to still be people going.

Too many thrill rides will alienate families that want to experience things with their kids. There are rides that everyone can go on and have fun.

I love Timekeeper. I'm not sure why people seem to dislike it. It's fun.

Alien Encounter is fun too! It's not all that old, either.

The speedway I havent been on since I was a teenager. I remember the first time I ever went on those I went really slow because I didn't want it to end. :)

Jungle cruise captures so much of what Disney *is*. I think people that don't like it, don't get that magical feeling at all in the parks. (uh oh.. I'm gonna get yelled at for that one)

isnet396, I'm not sure about your comment about the shows and that most people haven't seen the cartoon/movie in over 5 years. (I guess you aren't around kids who watch videos over and over and over again). But should we then not have cinderella's castle too because that's an old cartoon/movie. What about Mickey... long time since any new cartoons with him... send him to the lagoon!

:)

You make some good points "njchris", but I still feel the major parks could use a few new rides or at least updated versions of the old ones. Walt always said he did'nt want his parks to become like a dirty carnival,. (paraphrasing of course:) ). What I feel needs to be done is what the imagineers have already done in parks like DisneySea and the foriegn Disneylands. Those parks are just as magical, but have made strides to enhance that magic for new generations. I don't want 15 "mountain rides" but I would'nt mind a few more like DL Tokyo's "Pooh's Hunny Hunt". The Imagineers are not all gone, just hobbled by budget cuts, and poor corporate vision; But I digress... WDW cannot become a golden statue under a glass dome. The parks were made to grow and shift with time. Walt was always looking for new ways to inspire and entertain his guests, I think he would welcome the influx of technology. The real problem here is how to maintain the magic we all love, then enhance it in these new mediums.

Too true about this one since Swiss Family Treehouse isn't a real tree. Made of concrete and other man made materials. :) By burning, there'd be a nice pall of smog over the park... ;P

FIRST OF ALL...

Please all you people, leave the CoP alone!!! It's a classic and you should appreciate it. It waaaas Walt's original idea. And you can also learn a few things from it about the history of how things were made and when they were made. WDW wasn't made just for thrills, but learning, too. Even Walt said that.

Indy Speedway is cool for little kids, like my brother. Its his favorite attraction, and I think he would have a heart attack if they took it away. My opinion, sometimes you shouldn't take away or replace rides that are successful. Indy Speedway is very successful, it always has like a 30-40 min. wait.

Also, we know that we have a right to share our opinion, but sometimes we make them a little harsh. Some of these attractions that you're bashing are other peoples favorite attractions. Not saying that I love Food Rocks or the Timekeeper or whatever, but I'm not going to say to blow them up.

I will say though that a few attractions need renovations like Food Rocks and Wonders of Life, but definetely don't destroy them.

Sorry if you didn't like this post, but like you, I'm just sharing my opinion. :D

Long live the CoP :sohappy:
