Well that, but, someone did die. Somthing came loose on the boat and hit someone. It killed that person and injured 2 others.

But I don't think that (death) happened on the ferry at WDW. (I was talking about the ferry that crosses 7 Seas Lagoon) I could be wrong....perhaps someone has the specifics? For some reason, I remember a pirate ship replica being involved.

Ferry Boat Accident

The accident you both are thinking about happened in Disneyland a few years ago. It was the River Boat that travels the Rivers of America. The CM forgot to untie the rope that holds the boat while docking and when the River Boat left the dock the tension on the rope make the dock anvel rip from it's bolts and come flying into the crowd. Killing two Guests waiting for the next docking and injuring the CM who forgot to untie it. :(

You know those nubby things WDW has in the ground to hold trashcans in place?

We had someone trip over one and hurt themself pretty badly, because they were trying to get into our attraction after it was closed.

We no longer have nubby trashcan things.

Yes someone did died on the Skyway ride at Disney World back in 1999. It was a Janitorial CM who was cleaning the ledges of the ride. He was not tied off and had not turn on the safety switch letting everyone know he was out there.

Another CM started the ride, when the cart came around the corner it bumped him and he lost his balance. He grabbed onto the cart which took him off the platform and lifted him with it, into the air. He held on for about a minute and dropped over a tree. Everyone thinks this was an attempt to break his fall, which unfortunately didn't work and he died.

Disney was so upset by this, the ride was closed and the decision to remove the attraction was made several months later.

Yeah, i'd wondered why they removed it. I figured it must have been something like that.

Well, I wondered about Skyway too. Here at Six Flags Mid America (now Six Flags StLouis) we were at the parks when I was a kid when some idiots put 8 people into the car and the cable snapped killing all 8 inside and two more people on the ground..the park was emptied. Then later the parachute ride failed and people were killed on that, then they had the stand up roller coaster and the husband unhooked the wife and coaster ran her over when she slipped out! Way more deaths at Six Flags then at Disney but all come back to idiot error! My mom did get her leg broken at Disneyland back in 1990. we were waiting for the night parade to start...had our place curbside and someone came up and knocked her off the curb and stepped on her...snapped her ankle...they stopped the parade to get her to first aide..she was sooooo embarrassed about that incident...it wasnt a DIsney fault, yet they gave our group four day passes that they honored at WDW! Even her incident, not her fault but the fault of another guest in too big of a rush to think of safety..their own or others!

goto snopes.com they have all the disney deaths on there. One was because a man was trying to sneak into grad night so he climbed on the monorail beam. Then a monorail came and it hit him and dragged him for about 100 feet before it stopped.

Did the original skyway have windows or something keeping you in the cars? If they didn't, that just might be their ticket to opening the Skyway again, if they would want to. I mean, don't they still have the skyway there? I can't remember if it was at DL or MK, but I think they still have the whole ride and everything, its just closed.

No the ride is closed down for good. All cars, poles and cables have been removed. The only thing left standing are the two buildings in which they were launched from and they have been emptied of all mechanical equipment. Disney closed theres due to a CM getting bumped off the platform, not falling out of the car pursue.
