Ride break downs

I'm gonna go and guess that thunderstorms were in the area for Test Track, I spent a few days up at WDW two weeks ago, and every day it was closed due to the weather. This time of year though it rains every afternoon around 1 to 3 and then again in the early evening. It's the rainy season for Fla after all.

Central Florida weather forecast every day from now until October: Hot, humid, chance of rain, likely beginning between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.

It's our bad time of year. But it beats this kind of bad forecast: High of 8 degrees, 1-2" of snow expected, no sun expected for two months.

Make the most of the mornings! Have a poncho or an umbrella for the afternoons/evenings!

Maybe we shouldn't get to be called "The Sunshine State." Maybe Hawaii deserves that title. But it's ours. We get to keep it. Bwahahahaha! And we do have a ton of totally sunny days, if you count the whole year.

We still get a lot of sun in the summer! It's sunny now!

Not at WDW, but at Disneyland. I got there in the morning and headed over to Space Mountain, after about 10 minutes in line, it broke down and the line was cleared. SoI head over to the monorail just for a quick ride...yup, it had just broke down as I got in line. So I head over to the Matterhorn...you guessed it! Broke down. At this point I am extremely aggravated, so I go over to Alice in Wonderland. And wouldn't you know it, broke down! At this point I am livid, so I head over to City Hall. I am given three FastPasses for Disneyland and 1 FastPass for DCA for my inconvenience. So I head over to Spalsh Mountain and, well, you know it! Broke Down. I prcatically storm out of the park, go to DCA, use the one FP three times (the CMs let me keep it each time). It was just so annoying.

At WDW, I've been evacuated from Test Track, and had a lights-on ride at Space Mountain when the other track broke down. At DLR, I've been evacuated from the Matterhorn twince and from Buzz Lightyear's Astr Blasters twice.

Sometimes ride closures ('breakdowns') are because a guest has gotten ill on the ride. They are required to close the ride and bring in hazmat for the clean-up. This can shut a ride down for 20-30 minutes. More guest = more chance of illness.

If true that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. While there are no doubt different methods of cleanup for different types of illness, I'd be surprised if the CMs at the location don't do the cleanup. I can't imagine any illness at Disney that would require hazmat.

I've never been on a ride that had to be evacuated, but my December trip was embarrassing. It was my mom's first time at MK and we only had time to do a few rides. Haunted Mansion got stuck at least three times for a couple minutes each time and Pirates got hung up at the end for like, fifteen minutes.

Pirates backs up at the end when it gets busier, I just expect that. The haunted mansion sounds like they were loading/unloading a wheelchair, that also happens quite a bit. I do not think I have ever been on haunted mansion where it has not stopped at least once.

I know it happens, but it had never happened as much as it did on that day and it happened to be the first time my mom had ever been at WDW - and the only day she was able to go on the trip. We're supposed to go back together next December, but I can tell she's skeptical now.

That stinks, I hope your mom goes back. My hubby is not a big fan but the first year that test track opened we go stuck on the outside part around the curve, so here we were in the sweltering heat at a very sharp uncomfortable angle for at least 20 min. Hubby was not happy.

Yea, it's hard to know what mood those ghosts will be in. Sometimes they like company, sometimes they don't.

Did you explain what the probable reason was that it was stopping? If you did, was she still accepting of that situation? Going in December will not necessarily make any difference concerning how often that might happen. It is all a matter of timing combined with luck.

Yes, of course! But you could tell she was a little put off by it. She still enjoyed herself, I just wish the first two rides I took her on hadn't stopped multiple times. That didn't happen on my first couple rides.

The only ride I can remember breaking down was Splash. We were just coming up to the drop that has the waterfall right next to it. We got completely soaked because we were sat next to that for 30 minutes.
Other than that, I've never been evacuated from any ride and I can't remember any significant break downs. Mostly they break down just before we board or just after.

Some CMs are hazmat trained.
