Richard Petty Driving Experience to close

My husband and I did the Exotic Car Experience there in late 2012 and liked it so much we wanted to do it again, possibly this year. Looks like that won't be happening, but I think it's great they are planning to move the experience elsewhere in Orlando, although we wouldn't be inclined to do it since it's not on property when we fly in without a car. Looking forward to the speculation and plans that come forward about improving transportation issues (nightmares) around the TTC and MK.

It's a shame but i guess if they need to remove it to create more parking than it must be done. Imagine if they start stacked parking where the RPDE is at the moment. That creates tons of space.

Really? Because it looks to me from that photo that it is from the US Geological Survey. If Google Earth used the photo from them in their timeline feature, then at least quote the photo correctly. The photo was NOT taken by Google Earth since Google Earth was not around then. I am CORRECT in my statement. That is a photo from the US Geological Survey.

At no point did I say anything about Google Earth actually doing the imaging. I said that "there is imaging is available on Google Earth" and it has imaging from way before 1995.

The original post you were replying to from @AtHomeBoy_2000 also did not state the imaging was done by Google. He said "Via Google Earth".

Even the mighty GOOG does not have it's OWN satellites YET!, They BUY their overhead imagery.

They actually now do. They purchased Skybox Imaging about 8-9 months ago. I believe Skybox currently has 2 satellites in orbit with a plan to have a total of 24.

Google is watching....always watching:cautious:;)

GOOG does remind me of Roz - "Always Watching, Wazowski, always watching" :D

Interesting, I knew about Skybox but did not realize they had put satellites up - Thanks.

Either way it's a stupid argument.

People understand that if you say, "Google Earth shows..." that it's what you're looking at in Google Earth.

Trying to claim, "Nice try, Google Earth didn't even exist then," is dumb. It doesn't change the satellite photo, negate that some user saw it in google earth, or negate the original statement.

The track took away a row or two of parking. There's no getting around that.

That hole is being filled FYI. This is part of why they relocated cast connection to south end of the property. They are building a new entry way with a security checkpoint to the west of the parking lot.
I knew about this new entryway (although I thought relocation of Cast Connection was a future project and thought it was still in its "former" location, I'm 99% sure they haven't moved it yet), badly needed as FHP is always needed now for traffic control, needs a light. But more importantly am I going to still be able to use this new entrance just showing my AP.. It's such a time saver from where we live...

Nope. No parking lot:

There are still long term plans for a grade separated junction at World Drive and Vista Way.

Best thing I've read in the whole thread. That stop sign can be a nightmare at some times of the year; I've been stuck in that intersection for over 20 minutes before.
