Trip Report Revisiting 2016's War and peace I took one for the team

Hello it's me again and if you want to know what the title means you'll have to stick around for a while. Sorry but no spoiler This trip was 3 years in the making and the official countdown started at 439 days. Surprisingly the time seemed to fly by. Our little adventure was taken by me (for those who don't know I'm Figmentfan423 Figgy to my friends here), my dh and our 2 boys James 14 and fellow Disney planner and M who's a bit older autistic and doesn't like getting his picture taken or me talking about him. Our trip began at

am on July 30th. We sang happy birthday to my little guy while driving down the street on our way to Disney. I'm a very mean mommy who made my baby spend his birthday in the car. Any way it was smooth sailing until half way through Virginia where we hit rain and traffic all the way to the North Carolina border. It was bad enough we worried a bit about making it to our hotel for the first night but once we hit NC the skies cleared and so did the traffic:joyfull: and we made it to Florida

to take the obligitory first Florida picture of the boys. With a bit of luck and excitement we made it to Ormond Beach to get a good night's sleep.

One other little thing that Universal had over Disney. Starbucks! Every single one I went to had both soy and coconut milk. The ones at Disney only had soy and not even every one had even that.:(:(:(:( I can't consume dairy so it was important to me and to my boys. One less thing in in the backpack(my milk)

We headed straight for BTMRR knowing it would be closed the next week and rode it twice as a walk on once in the first car and once in the lastView attachment 158535 From there it was straight to Slash which was also a walk on. My dh hates Splash, I've never gotten more than a little spritz but he always seems to come of wet no matter where he sits.View attachment 158536 From there it was straight to POTC which again was a walk on. That's the reason I love rope drop so much and try never to miss one.

This photo makes me sad. I really miss the pretty view of Main Street it was once so mysterious as you looked down Main St. at the Castle. The new hub just isn't doing it for me.

After a few rides it was time to slow down and see one of my favorite attractions The Enchanted Tiki Room. Everybody in my family likes it but I love it and it's a must do every trip. The year it was closed after the fire I shed a tear walking by it when it was boarded up.View attachment 158640 From there we found this guy wandering and acting silly, he even stole my ds's hatView attachment 158641 Next up it was one of our big scores ADR wise 11am lunch at BOG. I got my usual quinoa salad as did James and Jim and my other ds got the turkey sandwich on gf breadView attachment 158642 View attachment 158643 View attachment 158644 Lunch was very good !!! My dh and ds really liked the sandwiches and said it was real turkey and not dry. The salad was good as always and it was the first time we got to eat in the ballroom.

We too scored the early ressie for lunch and pre ordered which saved a boatload of time but they were very disorganised, surprising for a place that has been open as long as it has been now. Our meal was very good too.
Though we were observing a woman that was alone at a table for four that I will get into in my own trip report someday.

As for the Tiki, we somehow missed it this trip. We missed a few things this trip that we came home and wondered how we did that. As much as I love the free dining plan, those table service credits do eat away at time. Can't have it all I guess and we did eat well. Understatement. But I am surprised about the new public announcement for the Tiki, bring your food and beverage into the Tiki Room. Wonder what that is all about?

Can't believe I'm only to page 5 of your report. :jawdrop::banghead::facepalm:

My dh got a few discount coupons at work, Birnabaum's had enough to pay for the book a few times over and we paid for almost everything at Disney with gift cards purchased at Target at 5%off. I have an aversion to paying retail:D

Sales/reduced pricing is always the best. I try to avoid full price the best I can as well. One reason why I really had to think hard about the Extra Morning Magic at Disney Studios for DS's birthday. But he won out in the decision process. Hence why I was very disappointed when they called and stated it was not available any longer. I then had to scrabble to find an early ADR breakfast in order to get early sign up for Jedi training. It all worked out in the end, though.

On the way back to World Showcases I stopped at La Hacienda and got a Margarita with a pomagranite floater (glad I wasn't driving):hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry:View attachment 158702 I really liked EMH we got on, Test Track after dark which can be difficult for us, Soarin and the Land again and the Seas. There was no direct bus to SOG at closing so we took the monorail to Poly and walked back. Another great Disney day.

I'm kinda surprised at the bus service from SOG, though nice you can walk back from Poly, glad it was at the beginning of your trip.
Epcot Mexico adult beverages can kick tushie. A reason I like Disney Transportation over rent a car though we did indulge ourselves this past trip in the world of Uber on occasion which was so cheap and better service than a bus or a rent a car or our own.

Test Track 2.0 I am really underwhelmed still. It is the same ending thrill which I love but the rest of the ride experience for me anyhow is a big minus to the big finish. I just don't feel the love of the neon vs the various chambers guest use to experience before the high point of the attraction. Maybe it is just me?
