Trip Report Revisiting 2016's War and peace I took one for the team

Hello it's me again and if you want to know what the title means you'll have to stick around for a while. Sorry but no spoiler This trip was 3 years in the making and the official countdown started at 439 days. Surprisingly the time seemed to fly by. Our little adventure was taken by me (for those who don't know I'm Figmentfan423 Figgy to my friends here), my dh and our 2 boys James 14 and fellow Disney planner and M who's a bit older autistic and doesn't like getting his picture taken or me talking about him. Our trip began at

am on July 30th. We sang happy birthday to my little guy while driving down the street on our way to Disney. I'm a very mean mommy who made my baby spend his birthday in the car. Any way it was smooth sailing until half way through Virginia where we hit rain and traffic all the way to the North Carolina border. It was bad enough we worried a bit about making it to our hotel for the first night but once we hit NC the skies cleared and so did the traffic and we made it to Florida

to take the obligitory first Florida picture of the boys. With a bit of luck and excitement we made it to Ormond Beach to get a good night's sleep.

Ok I have a question, because we wanted to do this, but Hubby said you had to use your own phone and his phone battery was dying, so we couldn't do it. Is it true or do they give you a device to use?

You can still go to a kiosk and get a device so you don not have to use your own phone.

All as walk ons? Wow....we got there at rope drop and STILL had a 20 minute wait for soarin and the other rope drop day, we went to test track first and it was still a 25 minute wait. You lucked out!!!

I'm very serious about rope drop. We get there in time to be at the front of the crowds for that.

August 9th another rope drop at MK but instead of rushing in with the crowds we hung back and watched the welcome show

After the welcome show we headed into

and quickly realized we hadn't yet been on the carpets so we fixed that

The boys then decided there can never be too much POTC so off we went

Seeing we haven't yet spent any time in the Storybook Circus area that where we next went. Dumbo and Barnstormer were still pretty much walk ons. We also spent some time just checking out the tent

To say we were impressed with both the food and atmosphere of the Nomad Lounge would be an understatement View attachment 159758 View attachment 159759 Here's where we also started to think getting James a phone may not have been a good idea because while we were finishing up our snacks he called and said we better hurry up because we had a fp to make. BTW we made it with lots of time to spare to see Finding Nemo the musicalView attachment 159760

It was then time for bit of shopping we went to the store with the kitchen items in Liberty Square and then Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. I was so proud of myself! I didn't buy anything.View attachment 159854After that I went to the Tangled area. It's well done but it's a bathroom for heaven's sake. Nomad lounge is in AK right next to(attached) to Tiffins. It's a really nice place even if you just want to pop in and have a soft drink. Their small plates are excellent and the drinks well made.

Will have to check this out.

We stopped in Japan where I got to pick a pearl, the boys got a few things to put away for Christmas, the only real plan we had was our 4pm FEA fp, It was nice just to take time and look around until dinner. Of course the boys did a few Agent P missions along the way while we were window shopping

My favorite kind of day at Epcot.

We had a wonderful dinner that night at Rose and Crown and the 7:35 ADR worked out perfectly. We got seated at the railingView attachment 160115 The boys got the baked fish and chips, Jim got the corned beef and loved it. I'm quite surprised he not only ordered it but loved it. I got the veggie curry and it was great! Chef Tyler was amazing as was Obi our server. Jim got a Welsh Dragon which he liked better than my Leaping Leprechaun. Saturday August 6th we were up early and were at the front of the line for rope drop at MK! I was a mom with a plan View attachment 159827 View attachment 159828 View attachment 159829 View attachment 159830 I may have mentioned it a few hundred times before but I love rope drop we got on BTMRR twice, Splash and Haunted Mansion all as walk ons.

Question, do they do the security checks prior to the rope drop or do they let you in first and then scan you through the security checks? I ask as I don't see security in the picture.

Security is the first thing you come to, before queuing for the turnstiles.

You will go through security first at all the parks. Then you will go thru the turnstiles. The turnstiles open a few minutes before the park does. "Rope drop" (not a real rope, just terminology) happens once you are in the park, when you are allowed to head for the attractions. Depending on what time you get through the turnstiles, you'll be held in certain areas by cast members until the park officially opens.

There is really nothing to remember. If you want to be at a park for opening, plan to arrive 20-30 minutes beforehand. And then just follow the crowds! Security, turnstiles, you're in!
