Retired Attraction Effects

It wasn't a sound effect like the knockers. There was one door where you could see skeletal hands trying to pry the door open from the other side. One hand on top and another on the side.

How long has this effect been missing? I have noticed the door has continued to bow, and for the first time I noticed there were no hands about a week ago. I think my brain may have been seeing hands on the door for a long time after they were gone.

What King Louie effect ? They never had characters on the Jungle Cruise. Do you mean the walk around character ?

Sure he has......;)

The main effect that I miss, is the "Earthquake" part of Big Thunder...that really was cool! Sad to see that it hasn't found it's way back...Really added something to the attraction...

Hoping that as a part of the 50th anniversary, that something gets added to make up for this...

As much as we liked "the earthquake" effects (including the moving rocks) on BTMRR, we think they will unfortunately join the Asian snowbeast in permanent "b" mode. In fact, short of a fire, has any intentionally "lost" effect been returned to WDW ever?

Dinosaur had its laser effects replaced (though the vortex effects are not the same nor as clever as the originals) and also had the mechanical jumping Compys swapped for projections. So not returned as such, but replaced with a near equivalent.

Let's just concentrate on what's missing in the Energy diorama...

Show door A
Floor fog
Bronto fog
Bronto pool
Bronto pool rain
Teetering rock
Lava pool steam and bubbles (show choice)
Elasmosuarus AA
Ellen AA
Pouring lava
Burning tree
Smoke wall
Steaming volcanoes

Wow! I didn't realize all that was missing. I remember the fog and teetering rock. But as for everything else? I must have been asleep at that point (Energy aka Afternoon Nap ride)

Forgive me if I have read over this in the thread, but in HM, wasn't there a Spiderweb scene with a huge "shakey" spider on it after the attic scene? Like you would see it during the backward descent

I seem to remember this "shaky" spider - if my memory is correct, it was nearer to the ballroom scene, before the attic.

Wow! Nearly 10 years I have been riding HM thinking the hands were still there. I can no longer trust myself.
Whats worse is that the first time I rode it was in 2013 and so the only way for me to see that was youtube videos yet somehow when I rode it I must have imagined them being there

I just looked that up XD some people are very delusional lol

I just went through that whole thread. Holy cow. "Clearly my childhood memories from 40 years ago are more reliable than the testimony of a Jungle Cruise Skipper, park historian, and archivist. And I'm taking it as a personal attack that you dare suggest I may be misremembering! I refuse to admit I may be wrong!"

On topic, last time I went on Haunted Mansion I *thought* something was off with the doors. I didn't notice the hands were gone but I was getting a "something's different" red flag. I wonder why they removed them? Sort of looks more like the door is just breathing heavily than that something is trying to get out. Or maybe I'm confusing one door for another. I don't have a 100% clear memory of two years ago.
