I heard that they are exploring a re theme for LMA to make it focused more on Cars as part of a mini-Carsland in DHS. Has anyone heard anything about that?

Only rumors I've heard is that it's closing eventually for expansion to whatever they are going to build etc Star Wars/Carsland/monster/pixarland

I just got back from my 4th trip this year, and I try to gain as much insight as possible from friends of mine who work in operations. Supposedly all plans are still fluid, but the current agenda from what i understand is a re-theme of LMA to go along with a "cars land lite" (minus the test track style ride from DCA), removal of the Indy show, Muppets, and the Idol building to create a massive Star Wars section of the park.

from what I understand the current thought process is that Lightning McQueen is the most popular part of LMA, and the construction for the grandstands was very expensive, and Disney would like to get as much out of it as possible rather than tear it down.

I have long been wondering if they would do this, and re-theme HISTA play area
to Bug's Life. That's just me wondering. Could happen. Might not. Who knows? :D

Yeah...umm...Horizons, the Living Seas, Maelstrom, and several others were expensive too...and far more loved...but that didn't stop them from tearing them down/apart for lame replacements...

Sounds interesting... but I dunno. Personally, LMA is going to make ZERO sense where its at given whatever Cars/Star Wars thingy they're doing...it's going to stick out as odd about as much as the Tomorrowland Speedway...

Doesn't sound viable to me.
No good way of having the cars' eyes move on the windshield and have the effect work in daylight.

Yes, I did hear a rumor to that affect. Let's see, where did I hear it? Oh, yea... the very first post in this thread mentioned it. By now I'd say that it is probably almost completed. ;)

but the speedway is the FUTURE! that's why our sci-fi tomorrow land has cars, cause nothing says weird alien future like diesel feums smell!

Why would you say that? Whats wrong with DHS?
DHS already is starting a makeover and you should expect more rumors being posted by posters real or not as a result.

The Backlot Tour is closed forever. There is proof that The Backlot is gone forever by the sign being gone and you can't enter that attraction.

Disney already announced that hat is going away early next year. Part of the Great Movie Ride is getting a change with it being the queue screen having changes and the final screen of the ride.

As far as the retheme of LMA goes, that is a part of the long time rumor about Carsland that has been mentioned many time in the past.

Whenever they are going to make a change to the parks, there's a development period where they brainstorm multiple ideas/attractions , then at some point one is chosen to actually be built. Generally when they "officially" announce something it means they've finally made up their minds and decided on what the new attraction will be. In the meantime, it's just a lot of "potential scenarios" or "what if" kinds of plans floating around until they decide on something

I hope not. I say get rid of this and make something new and exciting. Of course, i'm sure i'm one of the few that is over the LMA area and thinks the large plot of land could be used for something else (or multiple somethings)

Not sure what weird universe you're living in but The Great Movie Ride is not going away. Disney wouldn't be giving it a new pre-show and finale if they were getting rid of it. I must ask what "proof" you are talking about.
