It is currently 2:15 and I'm with my friends in the Indiana Jones theatre. The weather is AWFUL bad and 15 minutes ago they announced that the show was cancelled.... Everyone is still here.. We're just chilling here till 3:00 hoping it'll clear up for the 3:00 show.

Take a look at the crowd that is STILL sitting in here.

Anyone else ever had some funny bad weather experiences?

That's a bummer! (And wow...insane picture!)

We had a similar experience at HS where we came out of Frozen Sing-Along and it was absolutely pouring, but we had to catch our Sci Fi ADR. So everyone was huddled under the tiny awning outside the theater. We just looked at each other and then RAN through Streets of America to the restaurant. So much water, it was crazy! Then I proceeded to spill ice water on myself during dinner, but that's another story. :D

Hope things look up for you soon! Make the best of it!

We were at MK yesterday right in front of the stage waiting for the 2pm castle show when I looked up and saw dark clouds and then heard thunder. I told my wife that chances are they will cancel. Right at 2pm the announcer came on and said it was being delayed and then 5 minutes later they were cancelling.

Never did get any rain...but if there's lightning in the general area they will cancel.

I was at the Indy show last year when rain was threatening. In the 1st scene, with Indy getting the idol statue, they stopped the scene just before the big ball came out (with the "director" saying "how bout that Indy? Wasn't he great?"), and then they just skipped to the market scene. The crowd was kinda weirded out - I had the sense that most of them knew the show and knew something wasn't working right. They did the market scene, and then ended the show as the rain was starting to come down. Really a letdown, but safety first . . .

We go in June and every year we go it rains a lot. Not the Florida every afternoon rain, but sustained rains for hours. So we just poncho up and keep on touring.

One year we were in America heading towards Japan and it starting down pouring. As we passed the Funnel Cake stand, my wife pointed and let out a "ooh, I want one!!!!". But she was half kidding because we were getting soaked and no way I was going to stand there, dig out the money etc. The CM working the stand called me over and gave me one for free. She had already prepped it and put another plate over the top so it wouldn't get soaked. I tucked it under my Poncho and everyone else waiting under the Japan overhand was jealous when we were eating a fresh Funnel Cake and they weren't.

Last time we were there, we really lucked out with weather. But on our last MK day (we usually do two!) it downpoured all morning! We had breakfast reservations at Crystal Palace, but when we got to the park, we were selected for the random extra security check (my dad was selected 3 times over the course of the week. Not complaining, I'm happy they do it!) So we had to spend more time out in the rain.

Usually we just laugh off the rain and make the best of it. It's a great time to go to the Hall of Presidents, though!

Safety first? Come on the price of admission I want them doing no matter what.... I'll consider it might need canceling when I see Noah's Ark float by.

Haunted Mansion... they get you out of there when it's pouring ( end of the queue before you get outside...shelter). We ran to It's a Small World and were soaked! But it is always fun getting soaked and walking/jumping in puddles at Walt Disney World!:D
We've often waited under the smoking section shelter by BTMRR, sometimes for 20 minutes and still getting somewhat wet.:D
We waited one time inside Pete's Silly Side Show for some horrible thunderstorms to pass! I believe it was near an hour. They began to give away pieces of caramel/candy apples!:D Smart... because as the storm passed, people decided to buy one to go!:D
A rainy day at Disney World is better than a sunny day at home/work!

Two weeks ago, I did a double park outing of Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I was parked at Epcot, way down at the very end of the row. The parking lot attendant said something about I could move, but I didn't understand him through his thick accent. I could see my car all off by itself when riding the monorail to Magic Kingdom and back to Epcot. That was neat, but I wasn't happy about it when it poured. I don't like taking the tram when it rains--you get a wet bottom and it turns into a water ride. Besides, I saw some tram cast members just standing around under cover, so I guess the tram service had been cancelled until things cleared up. I did not want to stand around waiting for things to clear up, so I walked all the way down to Discover 20, then turned and walked all the way down to the end of that row. When I got home, I took a shower. Why is it when one gets drenched, the thing to do is get wet again by taking a shower? I had a similar experience earlier this year at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Some years ago, it was pouring and I needed to get to Cinderella's Castle because I had reservations at the restaurant there--and you probably know how hard those are to get. So I got drenched.

The one time we drove from Chicago to Orlando, a tropical storm hit and parked itself over Orlando for about 5 days. Driving down, we knew it was coming, but they were struggling to accurately predict where it would make landfall. The first day was normal, August weather, but when we went to get some groceries for the week, we noticed people clearing the shelves of bottled water and loading up carts with canned goods. We got a bit concerned, thinking the locals knew better than we did. It was just kind of squally the next few days and the parks were open throughout the whole thing. I did feel guilty about being on my vacation and the CMs had to be at work, worrying about this storm. I remember the worst of it hit overnight. We were staying off site and we were told to bring in our patio furniture. So, we went to the parks in the rain and the high winds. (It was August and I was so cold from the "wind chill.") What else can you do? You just have to roll with it.

Last Tuesday I was in AK and it was thundering/lightning from about 7-10pm but it never rained (we got lucky)! At one point the Lightning hit one of the cranes near construction on avatar land. The ground actually shook and the sky lit up.

After that the CMs opened the nemo theater and were insisting guests waited inside for the jungle book show (safety reasons??). the first viewing ended up being canceled but good for us cause the park emptied out. no waits for the rest of the night!!! :)

I remember when I was was young, maybe around 8 years old (early 90's), we were staying in an RV at Fort Wilderness when a small tornado came through. The entire storm didn't last long, but when we stepped out of the RV we saw that the ones on the other side of the road all had minor damage (awnings ripped off and such). Our side of the road was untouched. Being so young my siblings and I thought it was so cool, of course now as a parent I think I would be freaking out if this happened to me again!

We were back at the Beach Club one afternoon when a pretty serious storm hit. I decided to check in with my Mom back in Wisconsin. For fun, she flipped on the Weather Channel and saw that Orlando was the big weather news at that point.

to make the best of it, we ran down to Cape May Café and got in right away. No way were going to the parks. Yet, as usual, it all cleared up in an hour or so, and our happy park times resumed after Cape's seafood buffet. Good memory.
