Restaurant suggestions for MGM please

50's prime time has always been my favorite. Sci fi has great atmosphere but I have never been blown away by the food.

Wise, you are, Master Yoda. I think this is probably the best TS restaurant in DHS. We eat there every trip and have never had a bad meal or less that great service. Our favorite, too.

"Dear" or "Disney" Daughter... A Disney forum shortcut.

Waaay back when Prodigy was my ISP, I remember learning it as "Devoted" (Daughter, Son, Husband, Wife) on their forums, so that's what it will always be to me.

Then again, it was a romance novel forum, so maybe I gotta put it in context. ;)

On topic, the only restaurants in DHS that we would return to are Sci-Fi (for the atmosphere), and maybe Mama Melrose. I'm with those who would instead hit any of the Epcot Resorts restaurants, or World Showcase. It's not that the DHS restaurants are bad, but for the most part, they are no different than restaurants I can patronize at home for much, much less $$.

(DH is a picky eater and therefore Brown Derby is not an option)

After reading several threads on this forum, it seems the general consensus is the Hollywood & Vine and the Sci-Fi both serve horse slop. :hurl:

I thought about heading over to World Showcase on our MGM day but we don't have Park Hopper.

Horse slop is a bit harsh. It's just ordinary diner-level food, overpriced.

There are lots of choices within the Epcot Resorts--Swan, Dolphin, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk. Don't know which of them are on the Dining Plan, but it should be easy enough to look it up, and I assume that it might be easier to get a reservation at a resort restaurant than at one inside the parks.

We try to eat at 50's Primetime every time we visit Disney. It's in our top few restaurants in all of Disney. The food is decent, but it's the entire experience that you won't find anywhere else. It's so unique and so much fun (especially if you get a good wait person), that I would suggest it over places like Mama Melrose, which feels like nothing out of the ordinary to us.

Scifi dine in is also very, very unique, but the food is just so not good. Still, it's worth a visit because of the experience.

50's Prime it is family oriented and for familys with children It is super cute and fun. The wait staff should have fun with your kids and I am not sure any place else that is mentioned would be geared toward small children. They also have tv's for the kids to watch at every table. Usually an old comedy show. Lucy Leave it to beaver father knows best. It would be ahassle for you to leave the park just to eat with little kids then come back. Also the food is more for children there as well and they will get fun fun desserts. Just for kids.

We had horrible meals at both 50's and sci-fi last time so we decided this year it'll either be CS (pizza Planet or backlot) or somewhere outside of DHS. Eating just isn't great there for us.

Beaches is an option but the wait time can be long....

We really enjoy Mama Melrose. I would pick that first.
2nd Sci Fi
3rd 50's
4th Brown derby I really don't care for the food but we do eat there when the above are booked.

I have already suggested that you try Mama Melrose's or the Brown Derby, but I now realize that others have suggested that you leave the park and eat in either Epcot or somewhere around the Boardwalk. If you are looking for a place around the Boardwalk I would suggest Big River Grille, it is a great casual dinning establishment with really great food. Also if you are looking for a CS restaurant I would go with the Backlot Express in DHS, I find the food at ABC Commisary to be bland and mediocre, also the Studio Catering Co. is hot, loud, dingy and the food wasn't so great either.

Any where but Sci-Fi!!! The food is horrendous and the little movie they play lasts for about 10 minutes and repeats itself over, and over, and over.

Theming is a major part of Disney Dining, but you have to be able to eat the food!

I'm on board with just a couple other posters that say 50's prime time. The wait staff really get going with the kids. They will introduce themselves as a member of your family, then delegate one of the kids to set the table. Waitperson will also make sure everyone eats their vegetables!, it's great fun!

It sounds as if you are stretching your budget more than you can afford Larry. Maybe

next time you could afford the park hopper option if you stayed at a value resort.:lookaroun

A tip of the cap on that one, sir.

Park Hopper is out of the question when you are lugging three kids around age 4 and under. Just not enough mobility to pull off more than one park in one day. Before the kids we would jump all over the parks.
