Restaurant Rethink!?!

I have a few more:

Turn the Diamond Horseshoe into Tiana's Southern Buffet and add a Princess and the Frog show at night.

It's something we talk about every time we stay at French Quarter, but they have a restaurant in there. It hasn't been used as such for years, and as far as I know, it's now just a test kitchen, but there is a full service facility for a sit-down restaurant in the main building at that resort. I don't understand why Disney hasn't yet jumped at the opportunity to turn that wasted space into a Princess and the Frog themed restaurant. There isn't a more perfect spot on property to do it. All they would need is a remodel of already built dining real estate. It's a guaranteed hit addition to an already popular resort.

Here's the menu if anyone is curious or wants a bit of pre-Riverside nostalgia.

Agreed such a wasted location, I remember breakfast there use to be so good and it was a nice alternative to the food courts. Same goes for Boatrights, they use to serve a great breakfast there also now they are only open for dinner. They want everyone cattleherded into one location for some reason with less options. Its unbelievable with the amount of people on property. Same goes for the Garden Grill at Epcot, bring back lunch,,,and the list could go on with this topic.

By the way the Plaza at the MK could use a redo. I love it there, but it needs a makeover, Im tired of being sat next to those awful swinging kitchen doors that havent had a paint job since 1971, its also dangerous.

We also loved the Bengal Barbecue when we were at Disneyland and the New Orleans themed resturant was a favorite of the kids, my little boy orders gumbo any time he sees it on a menu! It would be nice to have asian at Tomorrowland Terrace, just some great Lo Mein would be a brilliant addition. Brats and potato pancakes at Friar Nooks or Pinocchio's would hit the spot. The idea of incorporating Tiana into a New Orleans themed area is an exceptional idea, now if someone would just listen.....

I'm so glad you see it my way ;) lol!
Now we just need the Mouse to hire me and then I can get my ideas put into action!

Yeah, I had breakfast at Boatwright's once. I believe on the second trip my fiancee and I took as a couple we ate there, and I remember it being quite good. It's a shame that so many sit-down breakfast options are slowly falling by the wayside. I like a nice, relaxing first meal, where someone serves me, and I don't need to battle food court crowds to even find a seat that may or may not be clean. It would be nice if I didn't have to spend over an hour traveling on Disney transportation for the privilege when staying at Port Orleans, too.

I believe the restaurant the two of you are thinking of was Bonfamille's Cafe and while not the most authentic Creole styled restaurant (Southener here) the food was great and I honestly wish the hadn't closed it especially considering that most of the southern restaurant options on property are lacking.

This thread is genius!

I have to start with Le Cellier. If they had a bar area where you could order the soup, apps, sandwiches, and reinstate the burger, I would die. For those that don't want a full sit down and the even more exorbitant prices of doing so.

There was a restaurant armchair imagineering thread a long time ago somewhere. I posed a rustic outdoorsy cabin-like interior. And for some reason the Roosevelt rotunda and other diorama displays from the Museum of Natural History in NYC popped into my head. How cool to be indoors at the bar, downing beer cheese soup, and looking out at, instead of real windows, fake scenes of nature and animals as if you were? Done right, it could be so kitschy and fun. And even in the spirit of a cross between the Canada pavillion and Wilderness lodge. I don't think I would leave. LOL!
