Restaurant capacity and live entertainment restrictions are currently limiting Walt Disney World theme park attendance according to Bob Chapek

Crowds are awful and don't feel any smaller than pre-covid. They're making record money because everything is costing more. As for AP sales and park attendance, Universal doesn't have a problem. Chapek and others spin it so it favors Disney and is exactly what they want.
Yeah, if you find yourself in 3 of the 4 main gates, you would not think there is an attendance problem. Reading between the lines, there is almost certainly an attendance and guest spending problem particularly at EPCOT, but once again, a prison of their own making. Fix your dirt island, fix your night show, and staff your restaurants. Zero sympathy.

One analyst says peak attendance is still a few years off too. Though if everything is as packed as it is, I'm not sure how they can squeeze more people in.

I'll be honest and say that I am a little confused reading reports like this of over-crowding alongside responses to Chapek's comments that guests are staying away because of over-pricing. If anything, it's kind of disappointing to me that they seem to be swallowing all the cost increases for the most part and proving him right on all the things I hate. So far, at least.

I will also sheepishly admit that his comments don't seem as insane to me as they do to everyone else on here. I agree that a lot of this is self-imposed in terms of the wages Disney is willing to pay. Still, though, they have been slowly re-opening restaurants and bringing back live entertainment haven't they? Whatever the reason behind that, it doesn't seem like what he's saying is necessarily wrong about these things limiting capacity.

Does Bob know Boris Johnson ?

Asking for a friend.
I thought the same thing…

but it goes deeper than that…a certain individual has shocked the US for 5 years now…repeatedly saying things that manners and wisdom would dictate never be said outloud and shocking/incapacitating the audience. It’s been proven a very effective - if not intentional and based in stupidity - form of psychological control.

chapek is just doing that…letting the evil flow and the people don’t know whether to cry or wind their watch?

which reminds me…I didn’t watch prime ministers questions this week…May really got him last week. Full blast not seen in decades

I think Covid should have required them to publish numbers... Because out of my 30 years of attending the parks, I have never seen it as busy as it is now.
There is real consternation on this point…including with me.

I wish I had a week to just go to parks by myself and watch “flow”…my suspicion is they’re intentionally causing bottlenecks to sell this upsell line thing. It’s not illegal and their whole park strategy depends on it.

…but I probably couldn’t get a park reservation even if I wanted to 🤪

I just went by myself last week for 3 days. Just because I needed a few merch pieces that came out. It was disgraceful how busy every point of the park was. It is crazy but they are a for profit, we are switching our Disney to their cruises instead of parks.

Yeah…but I still can’t figure where the crunch comes from and why? I don’t think the on property hotels are packed in yet and off property business in late January/early Feb shouldn’t be creating the kinda crunch you’re describing…

something still isn’t right…their advance numbers still have to be under duress because of the disruption to the planning windows for two years.

something isn’t playing here. Are they slowing the load times down? Causing shortened serving windows or delays in food?

…nothing is stopping that…by the way. “Guest satisfaction” assumes that they have to convince people to come…and that all but died in the last ten years.
