Resorts without carpet?

We have been hit with a weird situation.

It looks like my 3-year old son is having some sort of reaction to carpeting. We noticed it a few days before leaving for Florida when he was playing on a carpet at another house. He broke out in a kind of rash. Clueless me didn't think that days later we would be in a WDW Resort room with wall-to-wall carpet. After a few days here, he has broken out and it's getting worse. Now, I'm not a doctor, but there's obviously a good chance the issue is the carpet. We will bring him to Centra Care tomorrow to see what they suggest. But in the meantime, does anyone know of any resort (Disney or other) that doesn't have carpet?

Thanks,
Rob.

I have not stayed in a hotel in Orlando that didn't have carpet.

But I do know that many rental homes in the area have tiled floors in the living areas. Maybe you could look into a rental home? Although, even then it would probably be carpet in the bedrooms. Maybe you could let him sleep on a pull out couch in a rental home? Good luck! No fun to have your little one sick while you're on vacation! :(

ETA - I'm not a doctor either, but I'd bet the carpet isn't the problem. I'm thinking there's something else going on. Hope they figure it out quickly! :-)

Also not a doctor, but I'd say it's probably a cleaning detergent used by housekeeping that he's allergic to, or something being tracked in from outside like fertilizer.

Get some Febreeze Allergen and spray the carpet. It's worth a try. My DS has A LOT of skin issues. We have to use special soaps, detergents, and allergen spray. Some of it is severe eczema, but a lot of it is contact dermatitis.

not sure but i would check out cabins at FW. may not be carpet free but less carpet than other rooms.
Correct, carpet only in the bedroom. However, there is a murphy bed in the living room he could easily sleep on and stay out of the bedroom altogether. The living room does have an area rug but I am thinking you could ask that it be removed for your stay?

Thanks to everyone again. It looks like it is less of a carpet issue, and more of a food allergy. He has had an issue with milk (lactose) before, but never reacted this way to it. So we are staying in the room, but we bought our own bed sheets/pillow cases, and put the special Febreze anyway, just in case. We have 10 days left, so want to put as much as possible on our side. We will be extra careful with milk over the next few days to see how that affects things.

Disney Food Allergies

A friend just returned from the world. Her daughter is allergic to milk, eggs, peanuts. She made all of her ADR's and they chefs were incredibly helpful. They made special meals without eggs. All resort restaurants have soy milk and if you let them know, they will have lactaid. They even went to Chef Mickey and they made special waffles etc. Just be sure to call ahead. Good Luck and enjoy!
