Resort specific beach towels

Our family used to buy a beach towel every time we went to disneyworld. We would always get one with the resort logo where we were staying, but it seems the last few times we've been they haven't had them anymore. Did they do away with these around the same time they got rid of resort specific refillable mugs?

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I have seen one recently for I think The Beach Club (don't quote me) etc so they still exist possibly but not for every resort. :)

There was a point in time where Disney did away with resort specific merchandise, if my memory serves me correctly, the goal was to create "one Disney" and upped the production of general WDW branded items. I thought more resort specific things were support to re-emerge. I believe I have seen some items. But as far as I know, the refillable mugs are all general.

In the last years I only saw a resort specific towel in the AKL, in 2011 actually. If my memory is correct TDO discontinued most of the resort specific merchandise around 2011 because in 2010 during our stay at the Poly we still got the Poly towel. We were VERY disappointed when we found out that TDO had scrapped nearly the entire resort specific merchandise even in the DELUXE resorts but TDO is quite a master of disappointing their guests for years now.

For everyone's info every resort we have stopped in/visited/dined/stayed at I always go in the gift shops and in every single one I still saw lots of resort specific merchandise even after 2011 up until this year. They have added even more the last 2 years again. It was never gone completely but did go down a lot in 2011 but has steadily gone back to having more since 2011 at every resort from Values to Deluxe Villa resorts. I'm a big shopper so I visit most gift shops I come across anywhere on property. So I don't know why people complain as they do have quite a few/reasonable amount of items available again at most resorts at least the last few years to present. :)

Last month when I was staying at the Boardwalk Inn I noticed they were selling brand new resort specific resort merchandise, however it was branded as Disney's Boardwalk Resort since they also have the Boardwalk Villas section. Anyway I was able to purchase a Boardwalk t-shirt and ceramic logo mug, however among those new items they did not sell a resort specific beach towel.

They had resort specific items still back in 2012 as well and 2013 as I bought several items there when we stayed in Dec 2012. Dec 2013 we visited again, but not stayed, and saw newer items as well. Each time they had shirts, magnets, coffee mugs, travel mugs, shot glasses, and more etc etc for certain at The Boardwalk and all other resorts we stayed or visited like I mentioned in my previous posts.
But as you noted no beach towel I ever saw either at The Boardwalk. :)

I know the Boardwalk had resort items for sale in 2012 because I remember purchasing a luggage tag and a key chain. However the t-shirts they were selling at that time were only made for a woman and since I'm a guy obviously it was not for me. So when I said how last month I saw new items for sale I meant the t-shirt which I was able to purchase and the mug which was not sold a few years ago.

I totally understood what you meant. I was just supporting what you said actually. Lol. Sorry if it came off like I was questioning you or something. I was not at all. I agreed with you and wanted to let others know that Resort specific merchandise never went away like some claim(not you or anyone in particular) it just decreased for a few years and is now making a great comeback the last year or 2. :)

I understand what you were previously saying and I agree that it was in 2012 when resort specific merchandise was making a comeback. Last month when I saw that new Boardwalk t-shirt I was completely surprised because I was not sure if they had any new items for sale. I looked online prior to leaving to see if there was new items and didn't find anything.

Okay good I was just making sure as i did not want to ruffle any feathers. Lol
Glad you were able to finally get a shirt. I like the women's pink shirt they have right now at The Boardwalk that I may have to snag this trip eventhough I'm not staying there. Lol
What would make my day would be to finally see some Kidani Village specific merchandise instead of just Animal Kingdom Lodge items. That is the last one me and DH are waiting on as that's our home resort. :)

I forgot to mention they also started selling hats that said Disney's Boardwalk Resort. However I decided not to purchase it because there is a Hockey hat I like to wear everyday and I didn't like the way it looked on me.

Also the shirts, mugs, key chains and etc was all being sold at the Dundy’s Sundries store in the lobby right before the BWV elevators. The hat was being sold at Thimbles & Threads on the Boardwalk.
