Resort Room Preference ..

Hatter like you I usually like to the surprise of not knowing my room until I get there. The only time I make a room request, and have always gotten it, is staying in the south garden wing of the Contemporary. I always ask for a room at the end of the wing facing the lake.

Saks a room is always my preference as well, after all those Army years and sleeping on the ground I want my comfort.

We never request a room. Once I paid for a preferred room at Pop and it was ok. Not sure if I would pay extra again. However, I once booked on hotels.com for a great rate (like $70 a night) and guess what? I was in the same building that I was in when I had paid for a preferred room! Just on the back of the building which was great because it was quiet! Overall I don't really care where we are placed in a room at Disney. I just love being there so I'm not that picky.

I typically have some sort of preference which is dependent on the resort I am staying in. Like BLT I have put in room request specifically by room number which I was able to have a MK view in a room that is classified as a lake view room and each time we were granted our request with no questions asked. Now @ AKL I request which savanna I prefer @ SSR I like Congress Park because it is closest to DTD, @ WLV I don't want to be near the dumpsters again and so on. Most of my requests are driven by either thinks that I have liked or things I finds I didn't like "dumpster smell".

We ended up with the dumpster before too :/

Well to be honest, the time we spend in our room is minimal...Because we have booked package holidays from the UK.We go with the flow..Yet to have a room I didn't like..Last year at magnolia in PORS our room was bottom floor and side garden view..Only time I looked out the window was first thing in the morning
I'd agree with this. We've stayed in 3 different resorts (CBR, ASMovies and PORS) and will be at POFQ next visit. Never requested a preference for location of the room (just adjoining for one visit - we we were given). All have been good on whatever floor, and as Hatter says time in the room is minimal, so we go with the flow.

Good Morning All...I notice that some of us who are maybe going to a new resort for the first time, ask advice for recommendations for best locations of the rooms...Now I understand some people may have a walking disability and want to be near the food court,or maybe some people don't like climbing stairs and prefer a bottom floor..Do you make a room preference when booking your resort,or like me,wait until you get there.( I like the excitement of not knowing )..Now by room reference I don't mean an upgrade to a Royal room at PORS or a Pirates room at CBR...I'am just curious on room locations at your resort..:inlove:

We always request the Magnolia Bend section---preferably Oak Manor or Magnolia Terrace building. I usually make my request when I book. BTW Hatter, I have been out of touch for awhile. What's with this trip that you have planned? I thought your next trip wouldn't be possible for several years?

My main request is that it be a Disney hotel, moderate or deluxe. No more off-property.

One trip at PORS, we requested a water view. It was worth the additional to look out and see the river and the boats. So relaxing. At Wilderness Lodge, I go for the Woods view. I prefer that as it is quieter and I like the woods. Plus, we could see the MK fireworks at night. I didn't make a request when staying at the Contemporary for a convention and ended up with Garden. That was also very nice.

Truth be told, though, as long it is quiet at night and a Disney hotel, I'd probably be pretty happy.

We ask for a room away from the elevators and away from the maintenance/housekeeping room. The worst room I ever had was at the BLT right next to where they keep the housekeeping carts. Every morning the noise was terrible.

Always pay for a WATER VIEW but request LAKE/LAGOON VIEW (bc pool views are the pits). Will also request a full balcony.

One of my favorite things to do is sit in the early morning on the balcony and eat a breakfast sandwich or stand outside late at night on the balcony and people watch at Yacht Club or BoardWalk.

I thought of a couple of good ones - I don't like to be too close to the elevators (if there are any) - too noisy sometimes. Also, I like to be near an ice machine and soda machine (I guess at WDW that means the food court?), but not so close that it's noisy.

I went with a garden view room at POFQ as it was either that or a courtyard view room. Not that the view matters much at a moderate from what I hear, but to me courtyard view can mean there's a garbage loading area or something right outside my door.
