Resort Mugs&Hot Cocoa! How often do they change?

My hubby and I are BIG hot chocolate fans (of course, we don't drink coffee).

We are staying at the Carribbean beach and have a set of mugs from there (the ones you buy to get free refills at the food court). Can we just bring these ones with us? They have a little mermaid motif and have Carribbean Beach written all over them. Or do they change them and we'll have to buy new ones?

I don't mind buying new ones, as they are GREAT souveniers, but just curious if we can save a nickle here.

Thanks!

I'd have to guess and say that the design hasn't changed since you bought them. I could be wrong, though.. after all, what do I know? :D Sure, you can use them again. If they are from the same resort, I'd be hard-pressed to say that a CM would visually inspect them. They wouldn't!

Use them! Bring 'em with you and save some money! :)

When we went in 2001 (and bought them), we had to show the mugs to a cast member every time we requested hot cholocate packets (as they aren't on the island).

Just would hate to drag them all the way across the country for nothin'!

But you'd be bringing back useful data. There have been perhaps one or two third-person accounts of someone being denied a refill of their refillable mugs in WDW. If you could show your old mugs to Cast Members and report back here whether or not you were denied a packet, that would be something for us to consider.

There is a furious debate among some posters (mostly on other boards, not here, thankfully) about whether Cast Members who sell mugs and say they are reusable on future trips are actually contributing to Disney's honor by not reneging on past promises, or are instead acting in opposition to a new written Disney policy of not recognizing the past mug-selling promotions.

We just got back and had no trouble using the mugs we bought in 2002 at Wilderness Lodge. Not only are they a different color than the new ones, they are a differnet shape, but we had no problems using them.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Yes - one is blue and the other is purple with a Sebastian and Flouder scene on it, so I think we'll risk it. If not, there are actaully 4 in our party and 2 are soda nuts, so they can have them (since they don't check - at least in our experience at the All Star's drink island) for soda's instead! :)

7 more days and I can't wait!

I'll report back either way.

The design of CB and the All-Stars food courts are different.

The drink islands for CB are behind the cashiers. While you can get around and through the openings, it's not like the AS.

You can see what I'm talking about by looking at these.

When I was there in June the mug design had changed there are now two different mug and short and fat one that has Mickey, Donald and Goofy on it and a taller one that has the caribbean beach logo with some people (kind of like stick people). Also the hot chocolate is located at the refreshment island, it has its own machine, which when I had some in June was a little watered down. What they did have in packets was lots of tea.

Wow! Thanks for the info!

I'll let you guys know what I find out! :)

By this time next week, we'll be eagerly awaiting the last person in our party at the airport before getting into the rental car and zippin' over to the Carribbean Beach Resort WITH our mugs. ; ) Just in case. ; )
