Resort hopping these days

With most covid restrictions relaxed these days- I am just wondering the success of resort hopping these days without dinner reservations.

I know we can get there by bus, just asking for driving car to resort hop.

Has anyone done this recently successfully?

they won’t let you in most resorts without a dining reservation. They have been pretty good at checking. Some resorts even had printouts of all reservations for the day.

On my checkout day less than two weeks ago, I drove to the the CSR gate and told the guard I wanted to check out the CSR gift shop before picking up 429 for the drive home. He let me in. I think if you're 100% honest and they see you're already a WDW guest at another resort, they'll let you in. I wouldn't try it for going to a park, however.

I think a lot of this has to do with whether a resort is on the monorail or skyliner route. My friend was there 2 weeks ago and they drove to the Grand Floridian on their departure day. They had just spent 8 nights at AoA and she wanted to go buy some things at the Basin shop. They wouldn't let them in. Wouldn't even let her husband drop her off there.

I agree with this very much. Even at the Values that have the Skyliner like PoP and AofA - My husband left AofA last week to visit his dad for the day and when he returned, his 'hotel key' on his phone didn't scan him into the resort/ lift the gate for him to enter. The security guard had to walk over and verify his resort stay and see his drivers' license before he let my husband proceed.

So for the monorail and skyliner resorts, you can't drive yourself. But for the other resorts, you might be allowed to park and go inside to check out the resort.

Interesting. Thanks.

We were able to resort hop on our checkout day (9/30). We had been staying at POFQ and drove our car over to park at the TTC. We were able to visit each of the monorail resorts (Polynesian and Contemporary via monorail) and took a boat launch from The Polynesian to the Grand Floridian) with no issues at all. In my 50 years of visiting Disney, I've never encountered an issue visiting any of the resorts that we wanted to enter. Of course, we have never tried to park at a resort that we were not staying and utilized Disney transportation to reach those resorts.

Thanks for the replies!

The main reason I even asked - Last trip this spring, we had a split stay with one night at Boulder Ridge- as we were leaving, my wife suggested we walk the trails back there, but we were pressed for time to get to next resort and stuff…

We are back at AKL next week and was thinking of driving over to walk the trails there. That all depends on how difficult it was to hop …

Everyone needs to stay in their own resorts. We don't need no riff-raff in the Value Resorts.

You parked at the TTC, not the resorts, that's why no one cared. Parking at the resorts is severely restricted, sometimes to a ridiculous level.

The only issue involving visiting resorts is with parking a car. If you’re on Disney transportation they have no way of knowing where you’re staying or coming from.

You are not getting into any of the monorail resorts, Yacht Beach or Boardwalk without a dining reservation. Some of the resorts won't even let you drop people off.

And that is why we never have bothered attempting to park at another resort. There are enough alternative methods to visit another resort without having to worry if they will let you park at a resort or not.
