Resort HELP!

I am bawling over here.......When I booked my WDW vacation they booked us at Coronado Springs resort and the customer service told me it was the best moderate resort. I just started to do my research and have seen ALOT of negative reviews for this resort. It will be my Hubby, 9 yo son and myself. This will probably be our only trip to Disney since we won't be able to afford it again for a LONG while and I want my son to remember it always. I am seeing alot of good reviews for Port Orleans River and am not able to get in there. Any suggestions? I know I should of done my researched before I booked......

Customer service says that since we got the free dining plan there are no more rooms for the free dining plan.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks!

When I looked at the reviews it has gotten a lot of bad reviews. Saying it has not been clean lately, and the staff has not been real friendly. I am a neat freak so If I find something in say my shower, or bed I will not be able to sleep there. Also saying that it does not have alot of the "Disney Magic". I know it is my fault as I should of looked at this before booking. But I want a resort that is really family friendly and not a resort for business conferences.

reviews are only written by the people who had the bad experience 99% of the time. I have not stayed at CSR, but have visited and spoke with many who have stayed there and it is great for what it is...a place to sleep and shower. If this is your first and might be only trip to WDW you won't be hanging at the hotel all that long anyway. The hotel will be great, just make the most of the parks and the meal plan and have some fun!

Here are a few good reviews for it! Take a look and DON'T WORRY!!!!

If you read enough reviews, you will see that at some point EVERY resort on property, from the values to the villas, has had a review about it being dirty with others agreeing. You have to take any reviews you read with a huge grain of salt. For everything positive you read you can find something negative and visa versa. This goes with everything. Don't let a review from random people on the internet persuade you to do one thing or another. You don't know who these people are and you don't know what causes their opinions. This goes with both positive and negative reviews. Don't buy in to all the negativity and don't buy into all the hype of something. It is best to form your own opinions about things instead of letting some random stranger dictate what you will and won't like.

As far as CSR goes, my sister and my brother-in-law stayed there a couple of years ago and loved it. There really isn't any more or less "Disney Magic" because the resort caters to business confrences. A few of the resorts cater to business confrences, CR has a whole convention center but that doesn't make it any less Disney.

I say stick with what you have. As a PP basically said, if this may be a once in a lifetime type trip, you really need a room to shower, sleep at night or maybe nap or relax at the pool for a bit durring the day. For the most part you are going to be out touring, taking in all you can while you can.

What Jerm said....We have stayed there 2 times and loved it both times. I would not worry...you will have a awesome time at CS. They have a really great pool and pool area. Every resort has a different level and Disney feel to it so you have to take it for what it is and make this the best experence for your son. Take a deep breath and embarce what you have. :) I hope you all have a AWESOME Disney vacation.

I've stayed there and absolutely lOved it!!!! My family still talks about how great the pool is there snd how much we loved that slide!!! Please don't stress, if something is not to your liking head to the front desk and give the manager an opportunity to fix it for you. I doubt you will have any complaints! Free dining is absolutely worth it! Have a wonderful trip and relax! :)

We stayed at CSR last January and loved it! We have also stayed at Carribean and Port Orleans Riverside. CSR became my favorite during our last trip. The beds were super comfy and the grounds are beautiful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

We've stayed at Coronado Springs twice and loved it! Our rooms were very clean both times! Our boys were 4y and 6 months the first time and 5y and 1y the second time. Our oldest son even asked if we could go there on our next trip even though we are staying at a different resort. And, we're only staying somewhere different this next time just to see what else is out there. We would stay at CSR again in a heartbeat! The cast members were great there too. They helped us out with a couple of unplanned things too (both boys got sick). One CM even drove to another resort to get medicine for my sick son. We had two great experiences there! Have fun!

I'm going to go the other way on this one. I detest moderates, especially Port Orleans. You mention this is likely your only visit to WDW for a long time, is there any chance you could afford a deluxe like the WL or AKL? For standard view rooms with a discount, the price difference isn't that much different per night than the moderates and you'd get a really great place to stay. The other question I'd ask is, if you decided to stay at a value on this trip, could you then afford to go back to WDW sooner? I much prefer Pop Century over the moderates. Final suggestion, why not stay at Pop for 1/2 of the trip then transfer to a deluxe for the last 1/2. Should cost a similar amount as the moderate. Have a great vacation!

I can absolutely tell you that CSR is an amazing resort to stay at. The grounds are beautiful. The restaurant and food court are very good. The theme to the resort is beautiful. The reviews about being "un-Disney like" are greatly over exaggerated. I have personally stayed there for the past two years with my wife and daughter, now 2 1/2. We absolutely loved it.

I recommend that resort to any of my clients that are looking to stay at a moderate resort. Just in the past month, I've booked 3 different clients to stay there. I would recommend requesting to stay in Cabana 9a or 9b. These rooms are very close to the lobby/food court/restaurant and only a short walk to the Dig Site pool.

Enjoy,
Angelo

We have stayed there back in 2002 and it was very nice. You will ALWAYS find some people who have had a bad experience at ALL resorts. Try to give it the benefit of the doubt and go with it. If you get there and find something wrong or not clean, call the front desk and ask to have it fixed.

The pool here is AMAZING and they have a BEAUTIFUL resort. The only thing we found wrong with it was our room location was on the complete BACK side of the resort and a VERY LONG WALK to the main building/food court, BUT we were right around the corner from the main pool and close to a bus stop.

The rooms here have been redecorated since our trip and are from what pictures i've seen of them, much better than when we went.

I'd say not worry about it and go have a great time.

I have friends that stay at Coronado every single year and love it. They never once complained. I don't care for CBR, i don't like the bus stops and the rooms to me feel cheap.

I've stayed at all the mods and Coronado is my third favorite behind POFQ and PORS (due to the river and the pin trading) but it's my boyfriend's favorite so we've stayed here 3 times. My suggestion is to be asked to be placed in the Casitas section, near the bus stop. When we stayed in the Cabanas we had a few days where the bus was full when it got to our stop and had to keep going. Otherwise, I don't have any complaints...will def stay there again. It'll be fine, don't stress it.

Not to worry. While I really do like POR the best of the mods, I'd only put it slightly above Coronado. What I like at CSR:

The rooms at Coronado are a little nicer, actually -- queen size beds rather than doubles in the two-bed rooms, and nice little divider (not just a curtain, but a sliding wall) between the sink/bathroom area and the rest of the room.

The pepper market is one of the best quick-service places around in terms of value for your QS credit.

The pool area is the nicest of the mods, IMHO.

The lake is lovely to look at and makes a wonderful and relaxing place to walk around.

It is extemely convenient to DAK, DHS, and Blizzard Beach, and no less convenient to MK and Epcot than POR and POFQ.

Maya Grill is a good table-service restaurant where you can always (almost) get a dinner reservation even if you plans change last minute.

No need to bawl at all. You'll have a great time, so long as you don't worry about whether you might have had a better time elsewhere. Enjoy!

CSR is a beautiful resort with a great variety of dining locations, recreation and water activities, as well as bars/lounges. With the three types of differently themed accommodations offered-- Cabanas, Casitas & Ranchos-- there should be something to suit your family's taste.

Some people have unpleasant experiences and write negative reviews for whatever reason. I've often wondered when reading some of these... Were they at the same place I was?

Have a wonderful vacation.

CSR is beautiful and the pool is amazing. The only complaint we had really was the size, it's just huge, but you can always ask for a room close to the lobby.
