This offers interesting commentary on hotel occupancy. Many of us commented on the rate up above 90% during the last quarterly earnings release, and that's super high. 85% is considered to be about as close to "full occupancy" as you'll get in the industry. It's very difficult for hotels to coordinate the check-in and check-out dates of various guests because they don't always line up end-to-end. This is a smart way to fill unoccupied beds at the last minute if the next surge of check-ins isn't for another day or two. I expect this is most prominent on Friday and Saturday nights. Fill the extra beds in advance of the big check-in days on Saturday and Sunday.Had a few emails telling me this is back in effect again through March 11 at most resorts.
