Resort for single mother and infant

Hi, I'm jumping the gun here. I just got back from Disney and had a wonderful time. I'm single and pregnant. Just wondering -in advance - which moderate resort and which deluxe resort you think would be best for me and the baby once the baby arrives.

I like quiet, bright hotels. I'll probably go to Animal Kingdom, Epcot, and Magic Kingdom. I'll very likely have a few resort days, too, so pools with good shading and infant-friendly restaurants on-site would be great. Any other tips?

Like I said, this is in advance, but I really enjoy planning ahead. It will just be me and the baby. Thank you in advance for any advice or opinions.

This may not be a common one, but I think as far as moderates are concerned, POFQ is what I'd suggest.

As far as deluxe, I'd suggest Yacht and Beach Club (skip to about 3 mins in)

The sand pool is something that could be fun (depending on the age of the infant)

Quiet? For moderate, I'd suggest Coronado Springs. Being a resort that caters more to business travelers in for various meetings, there's less children than some of the other resorts. Also, if you use the buses, they're likely to be less crowded because, again, less families going from the resort to the parks.

Congratulations on the baby, by the way!

Oooh, good suggestion! I retract my earlier one and second this!

I totally agree with @Matt_Black Coronado will likely be quiet and easy. They have good food options, nice pool, and lots of beautiful grounds to walk with the baby on. As for a deluxe, I'd say anywhere on the monorail line. Easy ride to MK and Epcot (and also back to the resort if you need a rest) and they all have great food options and nice grounds.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and happy thinking and planning for babys first trip!

POP for value and I would probably go with AKL or WL for a deluxe if it were me with a baby, simply because they both have awesome lobby's to hang in, good food options, cheaper room rates and nice main pools. I third the CSR option for a moderate. And ask for the Cabana section, it's in between the lobby and the main dig pool and there is a quiet pool and laundry over there too. The food options are good onsite, the buses run the circle often and are hardly ever crowded, and the grounds are really beautiful.

You did not say how old the "infant" will be when you visit Disney. If your child will be an "infant"....not toddling around, I would recommend the Contemporary Resort only for the convenience. You can take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom and to the other monorail resorts and enjoy the ambiance there. If your child will be a toddler during your visit, I still recommend the Contemporary or the Polynesian. I find the Grand Floridian too big and by the times you leave the park, you do not want to walk another mile to your room. All of the hotels have bus service to the AK and Epcot so there is no difference there. The Wilderness Lodge is also very convenient with it's boat transportation to the MK. You can also catch a boat to the Contemporary and then use the monorail.
All restaurants in Disney are "Infant/child friendly.....it is Disney World after all....a kids a park.

Thank you everyone!

I don't know exactly how old the child will be. However, I enjoy going to the parks late April/early May or in October, so hopefully the child will be 6/7 months or a little over one year old. I'm hoping to go next April/May, but since I've not had the baby yet, I've not booked a flight or anything.

Congratulations!

I would say BWI or BC. If you don't want to go to a park one night you can stroll around with the baby on the Boardwalk. Epcot is a short walk away too so you won't have to worry about waiting for transportation to take you home.

Good luck with your decision.

Although this isn't an answer to the question you asked, I'll pipe in anyway as I am a single parent. More important than which hotel (which personally I would go for the one with the least hustle and bustle), I am not sure if I would go to WDW with an infant on my own. Although my child and I travel quite a bit, traveling alone when she was little was sometimes challenging (think about trying to use the facilities on an airplane with an infant in your arms!) so I was really happy to have family with us for all our WDW trips. Also, although she can fall asleep ANYWHERE (she recently fell asleep in a restaurant in the middle of eating!) when she was little she would get really stressed sleeping in a bedroom other than her own and it took me awhile before I clued into that and changed our traveling habits. In any event, enjoy the journey - it is well worth it!

If it were me and my son, who is only 3 months right now, I could just picture pushing him in his stroller for night walks at FQ. I love the pathway between FQ & Riverside, so peaceful. It's a quiet resort. Plus, everything is so close so it would be easy to get to the cafeteria if you needed something quickly. For a deluxe, I'd stay at the Boardwalk. I love the location, and the Luna Pool area. I also love taking walks along the Boardwalk loop. :)
