Resort Choices during the Holidays

We have a trip planned for this June to VGF but will have to reschedule it. My plan is to shoot for the 1st week of December. We are hoping to stay at VGF, but it looks like we may have to wait list part of the visit. I don't want to do a split stay because we will have a 5 month old and I want to just be settled for the week, so I am wondering what would be your 2nd choice that time of year for resort? I am a huge Christmas person, so I definitely want to be somewhere that immerses me in Christmas. Thanks!

Wilderness Lodge really does Christmas up nicely. Really, all the DVC resorts do. The one that might feel a little more meh than others is BLT, but even then if you book there, it'd be easy to take the monorail to GF and check out their decorations. Here is what CR/BLT looked like last year at Christmastime. http://blog.dvcrequest.com/christmas-disneys-contemporary-resort-bay-lake-tower/

Will you have a car or relying on Disney transportation? If it's the latter, I'd suggest staying in one of the resorts that affords you easier access to OTHER resorts if you enjoy looking around. And with a 5 month old, I don't know how much time you'll want to spend waiting on lines for attractions. As I wrote above, staying at BLT or VGF gets you monorail access to the other. Staying at Wilderness gets you boat access to BLT, followed by monorail access to VGF (or boat to MK for monorail access). Staying at Boardwalk or Beach Club affords you walking distance to each other. Staying at Saratoga, especially if you're in Congress Park, gets you a 10 minute walk to Downtown Disney's bus stop to ALL of the resorts. The only two that leave you a bit isolated is Villas at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Old Key West, and even with OKW, you still have boat access to SSR. And AKL/VAK doesn't totally slough it off either. Here's the tree at the lobby of Kidani Village

We won't have a rental car- I just don't like messing with them while at Disney :) Wilderness Lodge sounds like it will be my 2nd choice, with Beach Club as a 3rd (even though BC is usually very hard to get)

The Boardwalk is a nice choice, too. They have a nice gingerbread display, and in the past, they have had Mickey and Minnie in the lobby taking pictures.

You would do well to check out SSR, as you can easily access DTD by boat and be immersed in Christmas there!

until we're home at OKW

Have you been during Christmastime Stacy? GF and WL are (in my opinion) the top two "Christmas" resorts, and the two we are debating between (regular rooms, not DVC). BLT MK view would be great too, for the view and sounds of MVMCP and Holiday Wishes!

1st week in December should be a great time to go. Short lines. Low crowds. We prefer the Boardwalk because of the gingerbread house and the World Showcase within spitting distance at Epcot, which is really done up well for Christmas.

Haven't been for Christmas in YEARS!! And not at all with the kids. GF and WL are 1 and 2 for us right now with BC and BLT after....I just like the convenience of being close to parks

Hey @mammaminnie I finally booked my room tonight at GF. We definitely need to take time to meet up- I'm excited!!
I definitely vote GF, especially after touring the villas last week! I will pretend to be part of your family and see if you notice me sleeping in the corner ;)

Last December, I spent so many nights strolling through the Villas between GF and the Poly. I think they did an excellent job- the music is so lovely, and having the speakers on a pathway along the water was the perfect touch. I hope they add the speakers throughout the rest of GF too.
