They announce package rates mid-August for the following year. The on-line booking system won't provide quotes until the rates are announced.

You can book room-only now by phoning...

And then once the rates are released, you can call back and change it over to a package.

I am so gald to hear that I'm not the only one having a problem with 2008. I thought it was just my computer!
By the way has anyone been in January? I was just wondering about the temp( would a water park trip be possible in late Jan.). How are the crowds?

We were there the last part of January first part of February this year and it was COLD COLD COLD - we only had two days (out of 8) where we were able to swim. We actually had to buy fleece jackets to wear over our sweatshirts and winter hats that's how cold it was. We still had a fabulous time!!! I think January is a crap shoot as far as the weather goes (we just happened to hit the cold snap). Just look at it this way COLD, HOT or RAINY?? at least you're at Disney!

I agree too. We were there the second week in January and it was warm enough to wear shorts. Most definitely a roll of the dice with the weather.

I've gone multiple times in Jan. And you are rolling the dice with the weather. But the other thing to ask is where are you from. We are from MA. So even when it was 68 we went in the pool. It was warmer to us and the pool was heated, so why not!

All the people from down south thought it was freezing. just something to think about.

The other thing to think about is if you are driving or flying. Part of me would love to go in February of next year instead of April, just so we have two months less to wait, and two months sooner to start trying to have our next child. However, we drive down from Illinois, and the thing that keeps coming back to my mind is the horrifying thought of getting up that morning to leave and finding a foot of snow on the ground...or major ice and sleet all over the place, and being grounded inside our house all day instead of road tripping to WDW.

I have exactly the same fear as sbkline. We usually fly but, when we went down in April we drove for the first time, now my DH wants to drive the next time. I am worried about the weather here when it is time to leave as well as the weather on the way down. He says that if we hear a storm is approaching for our departure date then we can leave a day or so early by driving. With flying you are at the airlines mercy and may be stuck in the airport for a while, thus resulting in less Disney time! We are from northern New Jersey, so temps in the high 60's in Jan. would definately mean Shorts and a dip in the pool. We have been to WDW a few times in mid-late February and the weather 95% of the time has been warm. We have also been in March, April, May, July, August and October. I am just not sure about Jan., however I do prefer the cooler weather but, I don't want the kids to freeze their butts off in Fla.

We've always gone in Jan/Feb, driving from Wisconsin. While the weather at WDW may be a crap shoot that time of year -- its ALWAYS better than the weather back home! Bring a fleece pullover, jeans and a few extra layers and you'll be fine (if you're a northerner anyway).

As far as driving, just keep an eye on the weather close to your departure date and be willing to be a bit flexible as to when you leave. We've avoided snow storms by leaving a few hours earlier and conversely, left WDW a day later one year to avoid heavy rains through the Georgia mountains (yes, it broke my heart to stay another nite at WDW! -- especially when my sister and her husband, traveling back home via Amtrak, sat at the train station in DC for 12 hours, snowed in by the same storm).

I would love to go at a time that jeans and sweatshirts were appropriate! It sounds so much nicer than sweating buckets and then melting into a puddle.

I had mentioned previously that it was COLD, COLD, COLD when we went in January this year - and it was; what I failed to mentioned was that even though it was soooo COLD and we weren't able to take advantage of the pools/water parks as much as we wanted to, my kids (6 and 5) never stopped. The kids never got too HOT (which usually takes a toll quick on little ones) - all they wanted to do was go to the parks, so we were there when they opened and left when they closed (we just went with the flow). I was surprised that they kept going like they did - I'm not one to push them to go all day long, I like to go back and take a swim break but we didn't have that option - I thought maybe we'd get a nap in, but they kids weren't having any of that. We just did what they wanted. It worked out well. You just have to make the best with the weather your dealt.
