Renters Tax

I am wondering if Florida has a tax break for renters.

In MN, up to 19% of the rent you pay a landlord can come back to you when you file your taxes. Most get back somewhere around 10%. In MN it depends on income (void for those who make more than somewhere around $40k) and amount of rent paid to the landlord.

Does the state of FL have something like this?

FL does not have a state income tax, and I do not think the federal govt gives you a tax break on rent, nor have I heard of any county doing this. BUT, some counties might.

As far as I know, no county in FL offers this, since the loss of revenue from lack of income tax needs to be made up somehow.

Because of the no state income tax I figured as much. I'll be getting about $500 back this year and just thought I'd check to see if I'll get that once I move to FL. Oh well, I'll end up saving more by not having to pay taxes once I'm down there.

Thanks for all the info.
