Remember when Epcot used to play this if you were the first guests there back in the 80s and 90s?

I'm not sure if alot of people know this unless you were born in the 80s and 90s. But does anyone remember when Epcot used to have a special opening announcement with Jack Wagner complete with music which can be heard everywhere in the park? This can only be heard if you were one of the first visitors at Epcot.

Here's a video of the announcements from 1993. Seeing the music heard everywhere in the park just gives me chills.

This is classic Epcot right here and I'm surprised they didn't do this for Epcot's 30th anniversary for a day. The music heard in the video pretty much sums up Epcot during its prime back in the 80s and 90s.

Although everyone is concentrating on what the "rope drop" was like then and now. It might be beneficial to realize how few people were there for the "then" drop as opposed to the "now" drop. By 1993 Epcot was on life support and it needed something whether it be a closer Disney type connection or something new to do. That is was pushed the changes, in my opinion, and how, in spite of continued upset about the changes should, at least, show that it something was needed.

Every pavilion had its own rope drop at the same time. Including Showcase.

That helped dilute the crowds. How quick / conveniently we forget.

Not to mention there were actual slow seasons back then too.

Go to Nemo and Friends at 9.05am today and report back.

These points may be beneficial too.

1993 looks like it was so long ago already...

Are they back to doing opening at turnstiles? Was up at Innoventions breezeway during my fall visit.

Aw, I love it. I don't remember it, I was about 12 and was there that year too. They should have throwback days where you can hear the old music & announcements. Would be pretty cool to relive some of those things. Thanks for sharing!

Hard to believe this is the same Epcot we have here today. The song is "We've Just Begun to Dream" and it is my son's favorite Disney song, and we know it very well from @marni1971. Great memories and great song.
