If you watch the trailer it's about a post nuclear apocoplyptic era in which dinosaurs have been awakend and are killing off man kind.
It's a grabe your uzi and lets go kill kind of movie.

My understanding is that in the movie the dragons are awakened. One of the questions that I assume will be addressed in the movie is why they were "asleep". Perhaps something takes place in the past that makes the dragons go dormant. The ride could be based on that aspect of the movie then.

Of course the ride can have the same name and have nothing to do with the movie but the fact that it has a dragon.

Good idea... kind of like the County Bears, only in reverse. :)

I *THOUGHT* (though I could be wrong) that the mother of Christian Bale's character found some dragon eggs or woke some dragons up or something along those lines in present day and was then killed by them. The dragons then start destroying civilization. 20-years in the future Mathew McConaughey's character joins forces with Christian Bale and a few others to try to defeat the dragons before civilization is completely destroyed.

I could see the coaster easily fitting into the "present day" part of the movie -- you head through the site where the dragons are an accidentally wake one, then you must flee from it. That would work well. I'm not too keen on the idea of making WDW visitors part of the group of dragon slayers though -- that's a little creepy. But don't get me wrong -- I'll take the coaster any way I can get it!

I think and really hope Beastly Kingdom will come from an original idea, not from Reign of Fire. Sure they could make the dragons look the same as in the movie and even have the ride be called Reign of Fire, but I think the idea should be that you are transported back into the time of dragons, not dragons coming to our time. I mean in Africa, it's not New York City being overrun by Lions and Elephants. It's Africa, the animals natural habitat. And I really don't want to see Beastly Kingdom end up being a recreation of London.

But, that's my opinoin, and I'd guess I'd rather have London than no Beastly Kingdom at all. But then again I'd rather have Austrailia than London. So Disney should either build a medieval BK or build Austrailia. I know my opinion truly means nothing, but as always: "If I ran Disney"

Well, I meant Original as in, not coming straight out of the movie Reign of Fire. I am sorry, I should have worded that differently.

I hope the ride will be ready before 2006...because I'm really curious how Disney's gonna pull this Dragon Theme off. I'm hoping the dragons look a little sinister and not too "cutsey" looking...

How is it so unbeliveable that Reign of Fire would be used at Beastly Kingdom. I thouhgt I remebered it being in the Backstage tour at Disney Studios Paris (though i've never been there I have read about it). Personally I think it's a great idea and can't wait for it to be built.

Beastly Kingdom will only happen if Reign of Fire does well. If not, Camp Minnie-Mickey will most likely stay. Sadly, it's not looking to good for Camp Minnie-Mickey anyway. Last time I was down there, all the little effects (the jumping water, heck flowing water, and the tugs on Goofy's fishing rod) were all turned off and the bottom of the "streams" were starting to have algae grow on them. It's starting to turn into a mequito's breeding ground.

Oh, I hope they make this ride! From what I've read, it seems like it'd be so much fun! The movie doesn't look all that bad either but it is opening at the same time Insomnia is so I'm not sure how well it's going to do. But with a cast like this one, I can't imagine it doing too badly...

I don't understand the concern about the possibility of BK theming involving people killing dragons. If it is a coaster ride, how much plot can you work into scenary when you're going 30 to 50 mph or being inverted? At the most, I can see them having dragons "attacking" the ride cars as they go by.

And, let's face it, the prince killed a dragon in Sleeping Beauty - who was really a WOMAN. Nobody thought the worst when that sword went *THUNK* into the dragon's heart...

And, what do you think the Seven Dwarves were going to do to the crippled old woman (okay, okay, really a healthy evil queen, but still a WOMAN) if they caught her with those sticks and axes? Sing off key to her?

Besides, dragons are MYTHICAL creatures. They don't exist. Never have. Never will.

How much plot can you work into scenery?... Have you not been on Rock'n Roller Coaster? That sucker starts you out at 60 and does an incrediably good job of you giving you the perception of a runaway limo.

If Reign of Fire is built, I seriously doubt we will see a decapitated dragon lying beside the queqe. The story will probably half-way resemble Dinosaur where you are running away from a terrifying creature (the Carnotaurus).

Coasters can have great stories... it's just that most of it is told in the preshow.

OH, I agree that coasters can have great theming, sets, and plot (especially when done by Disney). But, when people start talking about scenes depicting people fighting dragons in a battle for survival, well...that's alot to absorb going 50 mph, instead of road signs, building signs, mock buildings, etc., like on RnRC. I think people vs. dragons action might be better suited to a "buggy" ride.

Quote from my post: "At the most, I can see them having dragons 'attacking' the ride cars as they go by."

Quote from Kicker: "The story will probably half-way resemble Dinosaur where you are running away from a terrifying creature (the Carnotaurus)."

I think we are closer in agreement then you think...just for different reasons.

How many runaway limos have you been on, anyway?:animwink:

One idea was to have multiple LIM launches sending you into show areas where you would stop, see some story, then launch to the next show scene and finally launch into the thrill portion. Tell me how killing ANY animals fits into the theme of Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Okay, let's take it one step further...how can having a ride based on a MYTHICAL creature, with no basis in fact, science, or conservation efforts, fit into the theme of Disney's Animal Kingdom?
