Any estimations for when the ceremonial house may reopen?

Made a DVC reservation for first week in august and realizing that might be iffy. Hope it's not still a disaster then.
If I'm not mistaken, the only things closed now are check in, 'Ohana and the Port Cochere. The rest of the GCH is open, you just can't use the front doors. So all in all it's not too bad.

Oh nice! Good to know. Saw some photos with tons of construction that I thought were recent but maybe I was mistaken
It’s primarily out in front of the GCH where they’ve torn down the old entrance and monorail station and are rebuilding it, as you’ll be able to see in previous posts.

Construction isn’t really affecting the guest areas of the resort :) except for a little of the parking lot and the monorail being closed at Poly. But you can walk over to the TTC for that if you wanted.

I found this to be an interesting thing in Bio’s latest photos of the monorail station:

I find the actual train platforms to be an interesting construction. Perhaps they are just flexible in case of a catastrophic accident, but it seems interesting that the platform is a wholly separate cast form which is built like a bridge would span a gap between the columns.

Could it be so various widths of platforms could be used in the future, allowing for the platforms to be swapped out more easily?

I don't think it is for future modifications but this design allowed for faster construction by casting the platforms offsite and bringing them in. As much as we hope for new trains I think we are stuck with these and they will keep patching them up for many years

Related note, I can't remember thinking "I wish bio had got this shot so I could see that detail" ever. He knows what to show and what to leave on the floor

The use of Double Ts does not allow for any sort of flexibility. They’re a commonly available form that provides a good span that, as @JoeCamel mentioned, are manufactured offsite allowing for reduced construction times.

I’m sure you’re right, but I still found the construction to be quite unique.

Reopening for the Polynesian now lists late July 2021 (used to just say Summer 2021).
