WE HAVE A WINNER!

You were close enough. I should of just gone ahead and given it too you. You said flares when they actually are fireworks. They are shot out of low pressure launchers a few feet away from the barges and glow for about thirty seconds. Sorry, I really should have given it to you!:brick:

Great Job DBF John!:sohappy:

Alright, here's the next question:

How many torches are there in RoE and what do they represent?

Good Luck!

You are correct sir! The 19 torches around the perimeter of the lagoon represent the first 19 centuries with the one in the middle being lit last as a symbol of moving into the next century.

Here's the next and final question for February 22, 2002:

Don Dorsey is the show and music director for RoE. How long did it take him to come up with the concept for the show?

Good Luck!

Points to be put to good use...

Ok, I asked Steve for permission to do this. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't get in trouble and be kicked off. He approved it, so here it goes. As you obviously have seen, I have been keeping score for those of you who have answered questions and answered them correctly. Now I'm going to put them to good use. I don't know how many more questions I am going to have, but I do know I will eventually run out of questions! So with that in mind, I am going to give a prize to the person with the most points! Yes, a prize! Now don't go jumping up and down, because it will not be anything big, just a little something I have been putting together for the occasion that can be emailed to you. I'll give more details when I know for sure that what I am putting together will work. Good Luck with the questions and may the best "mouse" win!

Good job DBF John!

Don Dorsey did come up with the show concept in 20 minutes on a plane flight. Sorry I didn't answer sooner. I'm a college kid and its a Saturday, what can I say!

Again, Great Job DBF John!:sohappy:

:king: Current Score:king:
MGMBoy: 80 points
DBF John: 55 points
Turkey Leg Boy: 30 points
Grinning Ghost: 10 points

Here's the next question:

Relating to the last question, was Don Dorsey's original concept the one that was used for the show and if not, how many times were his concepts rejected?

Good Luck!

I think Don Dorsey had two other concepts before coming up with RoE.

By the way, with all these questions about RoE, I decided to listen to the Millennium Celebration CD again. The music is certainly different than most theme park music, but it's equally great to listen to. :sohappy:

You are correct!

Don Dorsey had two other concepts that Disney rejected. One day on a airplane trip to Orlando he came up with the concept used now in 20 minutes.

Here's the next question:

How are the fireworks dedonated in the RoE show? (After being launched)

Good Luck!

As far as I'm aware the detonation means are far more conventional then the launching means. Timed cannon fuse which is probably lit electronically to ignite at a specific point in flight. That would be why after a piece of pyro is launched you see a very faint "tracer" (fuse burning) but it then disappears before detonation (fuse burning within shell and out of view). They're timed so that they have a specific amount of fuse that is lit on a computer controlled timer just before they are launched. Am I close? ;)

Yeah, your close enough, so you are correct!

The fireworks in RoE all have relatively short fuses attached to sensors that are built into each shell. Since everything is done by computer, a computer sends a signal to the sensor in the shell, causing the shell to be dedonated. This allows Disney to sychronize the fireworks with the music and get it right every time. With a conventional fuse, fireworks would always dedonate at random times.

Great Job MGMBoy!:sohappy:

:king:Current Score:king:
MGMBoy: 90 points
DBF John: 55 points
Turkey Leg Boy: 30 points
Grinning Ghost: 20 points

Here is the next question:

There are many different types of fireworks used at Disney World. Name four of the different types of fireworks used in the RoE show.

HINT: There are 10 of them. Think logically about what each firework looks like. It will help you come up with the answer.

Because this one is difficult, I will tell you whether or not you have any of them right and which ones are right. That way the first person to get all four of them in one guess will be correct.

Good Luck!

Ok...

Alright I haven't gotten an answer to the question above. If it is too hard, let me know and I will come up with an easier question!:)

Alright! Great Job! I don't know if you knew that or if you had to look it up, but you got everyone of them correct! Oh and by the way, you probably meant 300 gallons of propane. You can't have a gallon of fire! :animwink: Notice if you look at the names of the different types they symbolize what the firework looks like.

Great Job DBF John!:sohappy:

MGMBoy: 90 points
DBF John: 65 points
Turkey Leg Boy: 30 points
Grinning Ghost: 20 points

Here's the next question (this one is much easier):

The earth barge is know as the most complicated piece of machinery ever built for a Disney show. What else is the earth itself known for?

Good Luck!

Yeap 300 gallons of propane that becomes 300 gallons of fire, just play with words, didnt want to sound like Hank Hill as a proponent of propane

Uh oh, MGMBoy, looks like DBF John is catching up!

Heres the next question (another number question):

There are 56 of these in 34 places. What are they?

Good Luck!
