Normally I would agree with you. But not in the middle of the WS lagoon. All day long.I love WOC but outside of DCA, I prefer actual show hardware/set pieces over fountains.

I believe there are one or two known issues that wouldn’t allow for it. I don’t recall if it’s geology, the water table, the muck at the bottom, or some combination thereof.I was aware of the original intention to move the barges in/out like ROE. And again -- it's shocking to me that this wasn't fully worked out during project planning. And I'm aware of the reason for the placement. I just would've altered the utilities and/or the barges to compensate. It seems like an important detail to me.
Which brings me back to my original question about if something like WOC was considered since the fountains/equipment would all be hidden during the day.
Agree 100%.Yup. Because they just don't care. Period.
The beautiful, masterful design of the World Showcase allowing cross-lagoon views of the various identifiable, iconic country buildings is one of the most unique and incredible designs in amusement park history.
Naaaaah, just park them there all day. Who cares what those "theme nerds" say.
Hey why you're at it, you know that perfectly balanced, symmetrical Future World CommuniCore thing, got an idea....
It is to weep.
What they fundamentally don't understand (and what gives me little optimism for the future) is that the World Showcase, the lagoon, and the views of the iconic structures around the lake ARE one of the biggest attractions in Epcot!Agree 100%.
Bodies of water are something you don't clutter up for any reason - even when they are not surrounded by a World Showcase - but this body of water is surrounded by said showcase - and what they did here makes that even worse.
That's fair.Normally I would agree with you. But not in the middle of the WS lagoon. All day long.
I like the way you have stated this…What they fundamentally don't understand (and what gives me little optimism for the future) is that the World Showcase, the lagoon, and the views of the iconic structures around the lake ARE one of the biggest attractions in Epcot!
It goes back to this "rides and fireworks" mentality - they don't even understand what makes the Disney parks unique.
I can go on rides and see fireworks anywhere, but I can only see that incredible vista of all the countries at Epcot.
They don't get it. And even worse, they don't even care.
We just came back from a stay at the Swan the other week, and several of our previous stays were at Beach Club, with one at Boardwalk. What they fundamentally don't understand (and what gives me little optimism for the future) is that the World Showcase, the lagoon, and the views of the iconic structures around the lake ARE one of the biggest attractions in Epcot!

After a year and a half of not having fireworks, that really is all I want.Fireworks and video! That's what the people want!
They've adjusted the finale. Moved some pyro around, redid timing on the perimeters etc.

They moved one set of the perimeter comets (3 sets before now 2) at the very end and ones from the barges to a few seconds early when everything becomes dark.
But they also added 6 new palm-like
shells that go in sequence after one another.
This is a positive move mainly because it fills in some of the dead space in the last 15 seconds imo.
I don't really follow Harmonius as much as DE, but glad to see they're improving the pyro. Hopefully they don't pull a DE and revert the changes a month later..
I follow Harmonious like you follow DE and I gotta say, HarmonioUS has a weird pattern of being on A mode for awhile then switching to B mode Epcot Forever pyro for a couple of weeks and then coming back with a couple of pyro improvements. They moved one set of the perimeter comets (3 sets before now 2) at the very end and ones from the barges to a few seconds early when everything becomes dark.

I thought it was an accident when they first did it but it looks great. Also the new perimeter burst reminds me of Illumination's perimeter burst during its finale and it does remind me of Harmonious's June 2021 testing which is great. They moved those 6 palms that explode in the linear sequence from the Moana/Hercules sequence to the end of the show. It looks like they replaced those 6 with a couple different shells at top of show, in order to move them.
It works better at the end IMO.
And I really like that the dark into light moment in finale now has that perimeter burst.
Ah, thanks for clarifying. I only briefly watched and compared the Someday to finale part clipped in the video. They moved those 6 palms that explode in the linear sequence from the Moana/Hercules sequence to the end of the show. I'm sure this question has come up before. But was a World of Color-type water show ever proposed to replace ROE? I saw WOC several years ago on a DL trip and thought it was fantastic in person. Seems like that would've been a perfect fit for this park. Seriously, blocking the view of the countries across the lake is a HUGE oversight. Unacceptable if I was on the team that planned this redo. Not to mention the other issues with the viewing limitations of the flat centerpiece, the off-center placement of the platforms, etc.
Plus pyro. And drones. They could have done the Bellagio fountains + RoE on steroids and it would be a must see attraction for a generation.
