Went to Epcot for the first time today since the first barge went out and holy crap it ruins the views in that area far more than I expected.
I don't understand it. Why didn't they save the RoE globe for Disney Springs? This way, they could bring it back when Harmonious fails. Instead, it is now buried in the dirt, making it impossible to return.

BTW, I read an article this morning that Universal Studios was trolling Disney sites making fun of them for the poor sightelines at Epcot. . https:///2020/12/universal-trolls-disney-ad1/

Is that any different than the concept art released? (minus the white balance, of course)

I am guessing from that air handling unit that there is no plan/ability to submerge them so they are level with the surface of the water. These are going to look horrible - even as fountains. The only way they can maybe salvage this in my mind is if they did FoN style performances throughout the day.

My thinking/expectation is that the fountains in Harmonious (show mode) should be pretty similar to RoL? Hopefully better lol.

I would have fathered NYE perimeter fireworks behind the countries in an updated illuminations than this mess. Would have been better for social distancing too not having the whole show focus on the lagoon. It really is lazy, especially after DCA has shown us that Disney knows how to do better.

side question, is it possible to drain WSC lagoon?

As much as I would love that, ops would despise that. Backstage EPCOT on NYE is a mess.

So eventually the water level will rise to be level with the black part? Or is that whole thing going to stick above the water level?

I feel like the fountains are going to do a poor job covering those things up.

What you see is what we get. They don't "sink" down any further.

Edit: Going back and looking at one of the concept arts they released and the experience center, it even had the black part under the screen:
