Refective Captioning?

Last few visits to WDW I have noticed that a number of attractions have signs at the back of the room with the script flashing up on it. However, it is written backwards:veryconfu I spent ages trying to figure out what possibly use it could have.

But then, walking along the back of the Fantasmic theatre, there was a disapled bench with a reserved type sign saying "refective captioning". puzzled i looked around and directly behind this seat was one of the signs.

Is it possibly that to accomodate deaf guests, disney offeres some form of mirror to read the writting behind you and see the show? Or am i way off?

You're bang on.

Reflective captioning is a method of providing text of what is being said without the hearing guests being distracted by closed captioning on the screen. The guests can set up a mirror that is lined up to reflect the captioning in front of them so they still know what's being said or heard.

Many movie theatres provide the service.

It`s more a glass pannel than a mirror - I thought it was the latter too until a CM had to test one in The Spirit of Norway. I`d envisaged a mirror contraption like a pair of oversized sunglasses, but no; a stand is placed next to a guests feet, the top of which holds a small glass pannel, angle fully adjustable. The glass is adjusted so the guest sees the screen, and the reflection of the LED description behind them - but not the projection booth. Kind of like the lecturn screens you often see on TV press conferences and the like which project autocue displays from below the lecturn.

The ultimate in do-it-yourself peppers ghost!
