They do have amazing fried chicken, although the quality has declined in the last 5 or so years at the ones I go to.
Or rather it's not that the quality itself has declined -- it's still delicious when it's fresh -- but they've seemed more willing to use older reheated chicken than they were in the past. I have to kind of study it before I buy any because sometimes the tenders are like flavorless rubber. At least I can usually tell just by looking at them, though.
Also, although I've never been to one, I imagine Wegman's fans would fight people for suggesting Publix has better stuff than they do. They're rabid.

Are you saying Wegman's isn't as good as Publix, or what?
Like I said, I've never been to one, but I do have a good friend from NY who now lives in the south and thinks Publix is mediocre compared to Wegman's.
I would say the Fresh Market has higher quality meat, bread, baked goods, etc. than Publix, but the Fresh Market isn't a supermarket (although they've moved a bit more in that direction as they've expanded).

No wegmans here I am bemoaning the fact I have one Publix to choose from and they don't understand the sub game at all

Publix, is nothing more than a standard grocery store on steroids, but the only impression I ever got from it was that compared to other places they were more expensive and I never encountered anything that made it worth the extra cost.

Since we are way off topic here, I'll weigh in. Publix I only go to for the deli (The bakery is fine, but like others have said, above other groceries and below real bakeries). Gonna get the East coast after me, but Wegman's is nothing. They don't have anything that stands out like the Publix tenders, and it's even more over priced. The bakery, see Publix.

Really? I've never heard of that and I've been to multiple Publixes around UCF campuses while a student haha.
You needed to go to the #1 party school.
The Publix next to FSU's campus...and right across from fraternity row...was quite buzzing on Wednesday nights. I learned quickly to avoid it on that night.
