Yes… or possibly even worse.
Yes, for sure.

I know this will trigger some people, but Disney is a business and has a bunch of lobbyists and still could have lots of political pull in the state. Politicians need money. FL politicians were very accustomed to getting plenty from the mouse…even the king. I am sure they will be very interested in getting back to that place. No matter how this plays out Disney will be working behind the scenes to try to improve their relationship with the state. So if this plan ends up sticking and the gov appoints the board going forward you can bet Disney will do whatever it takes to influence who those board members are.

Of course she is a democrat from Orange county so this amendment will never come to pass.
Yeah. I just added the addl info. You're probably right. Other than retaining RCID and a modified board, I don't know if other changes from original bill. It's 164 pages.

Senator Geri (D) from Orlando is calling it out exactly for what it is... good for the record, but unfortunately it's not really debate :/

But calling out that they aren't holding their commitments and the fear it should do to all future businesses.
Businesses should be VERY afraid of moving to Florida, as it's quite obvious that the governor will punish any company that exercises their first amendment rights of free speech if they don't tow his line.

I know of at least two that scrapped plans to open manufacturing and office facilities in Florida over this and in both cases the owners are conservatives. Neither are large companies so I don't think Florida will care but owners notice these things and when you can get the same deals in a state that doesn't go after companies as punishment it makes the decision on where to expand pretty easy.

I think Disney needs to scrap their plans to move employees to Florida, stating that they are afraid of the Governor and what else he can do to them. I cannot believe that the idiots in both houses don't know that this is a completely illegal move on their part that violates the First Amendment.

Agreed, or at least put it back on hold until they can take this to court and get it resolved.

In all honesty it doesn’t matter and some of them are probably secretly hoping it does get struck down in court. As long as they aren’t perceived as being the ones that stood in the way and risking getting their names put on blast by the Governor and his allies.

Again, no harm in being a rubber stamp for Da Guv here for state GOPers - a "yes" vote presumably won't hurt their reelection chances, if the bill gets struck down in court, they can fundraise on those evil judges, and they can all plead ignorance/throw Da Guv under the bus if this causes a major hit to one of their major economic producers down the line.
