A happy ending for one of the Red Car Trolleys -

Disneyland recently gifted one of the vehicles to the Garner Holt Foundation.
Trolley #623 is now being well cared for in ‘retirement’.

Here is a snapshot of Garner himself and some young students at the Foundation enjoying the new addition -

Yeah…. So that basically confirms they have zero plans to rebuild a barn and bring this back in the future..

I believe the other one is displayed at the DCA entrance, literally bolted to the tracks.

The odds are definitely stacked against the Red Car Trolly (the one the park still owns) ever making a come back. There is the SLIM chance that the one remaining one could return to operation. But if that happened it would be 5 years down the road after Avatar construction. And a lot of logistics have to work out in the Red Car's favor. In reality though I just do not see that happening. The Red Car was born of a BRIEF moment in Iger's early tenure when there was still some semblance of "non IP spending" allowed. Red Car might have been the last non IP ride added to any Disney park ANYWHERE! Which is wild to think about.

I mourn DCA 2.0 as it was the most perfect version of itself. I hope the DCA 3.0 that's coming with all these new rides announced at D23 is a worthy follow up!

DCA 2.0 definitely wasn't perfect, but it really felt like the trajectory of the park was aimed in a direction that felt authentic to the California theme, while still delivering engaging attractions. DCA 3.0 will definitely do the latter, but I've given up on the former.

For now. I wonder how long it will stay before they rip out the tracks. With the backlot tipped for Avatar, the stretch with the Animation building and Hyperion will likely become something else.

Crazy how the entire identity surrounding DCA has changed so much since it's inception. The park was bad, then had a good thing going, then Chapek entered the picture.

I agree with all of what you've said. Personally Coco boat ride and Avatar land are on my radar, but I'm afraid my optimistic side is falling short.

For those who haven't been to the park recently, they also added plexiglass to seal the windows of the trolley on display on Buena Vista Street. Probably to keep weather and leaves and trash from destroying the insides.
