Disneygeek.com has some shots of the new street lights that span Hollywood Blvd. theres a few old ones still lingering around near Playhouse Disney and the left of the Hyperion. The new ones look much nicer.

What a difference brick, track, pavement and some new lights make. Now we just need the keep losing more of the backlot theme.

A close look at the pavement, nice to see they didn't put the plain asphalt like before.

Also more Trolley work over at Tower, more walls came down.

Mintcrocodile-Soon the area near the shop will used as a temporary entrance while work is being done on the shortcut from Tower to Bugs. During this time, FastPass will not be available

Seems to be a bit of a mess in terms of pavement stuff right now. Although it looks very temporary.

walls are now up along the main entrance of ToT. The temporary entrance is now in use, and the pathway to A Bugs Land has been closed (for now).

Gosh, that's a perfect example of DCA's original streets and ground coverings from 2001. It was just new blacktop slapped down with a single line of painted bright white road lines. Nothing more, nothing less. And it had all the charm of a strip mall parking lot in Irvine.

But the trolley tracks with the brickwork and themed pavement is going to look great here. The trolley tracks and themeing that goes with 'em is going to add depth and character and really turn little details like this street into a more typical Disney experience.

Trolley tracks are now being installed in front of the Tower of Terror. should be quite a sight to see red car trolleys traveling near the entrance of ToT!

Al Lutz has an update for the Red Car Trolley project. He also talks about the upcoming Hollywood Land re-theme, which is also set to include a new facade and lobby for the Hyperion Theatre.

The new Toy Story show was to have formally opened for the Thanksgiving weekend later this fall. But the Hollywood Pictures Backlot section of the park is the leading candidate for a more thorough remake after Cars Land opens in 2012, as WDI rechristens that area Hollywoodland, and the ugly and utilitarian flanks of the Hyperion Theatre are tops on the Imagineering list of past sins that should be atoned for there. The fear was that if TDA spends some of its own budget to spruce up the existing theater a bit and install a popular new show in that theater, that it would be very difficult to shut down the facility for a major year-long rehab just a couple of years later.

So the Aladdin musical will stay for now, with the new Red Car Trolley tracks soon to be laid out front sprucing up the streetscape of the rest of that area and introducing a more lush and more period-specific look. WDI continues to polish up their plans to reskin the front of the Hyperion Theatre after Cars Land is done, and enclose the southern side of the building and give the big theater a proper and very luxurious themed lobby from Hollywood’s golden age.

The other goal with the Hyperion Theatre lobby project is to close off the street view of the bland and sprawling cement waiting area and create a themed streetscape environment on that short path that leads towards Tower of Terror. And when that Hyperion Theatre / Hollywoodland Phase 2 project gets underway, then Disneyland’s Entertainment Department will use that downtime to mount an all new stage show to replace Aladdin.

It’s a good thing that a longer term outlook was used here, and it also bodes well for the fast-tracking and funding of the next phase of DCA’s rebirth after Cars Land.

Nice to see some entertainment that doesn't have any connection to characters (yet).

That entertainment is actually Disney Character driven.

It's based off of the 1992 Disney musical "Newsies". You can clearly see Christian Bale's character Cowboy Kelly in that WDI sketch, plus the other newspaper boys depicted there; Skittery, Crutchy, Snitch, Boots, and Dutchy. They're all there, all singin', all dancin'.
