Recording the WDW Resort channel.

Ok, seeing that many people have shot their own videos of rides, attractions, etc. - has anyone attempted to record the actual WDW Resort channel? And I'm talking the ENTIRE WDW Resort channel loop, talking about planning your WDW day.

I've noticed that in the resorts, the cable line connected to the TV's looks pretty basic (no filter on the line to block connections, no special cable box it goes into before going to the TV). The TV's themselves don't look modified in anyway. So, in theory (provided you have brought a VCR with you on your vacation), you should be able to disconnect the cable line from the back of the TV, connect it up to the VCR, tune in the channel and record, correct?

Does anyone know anything about this, or has anyone tried it? I've always wanted to, but I end up forgetting to bring a VCR along with me.

Thoughts?

I'm not sure if I want a tape. I think part of the magic is you can only see it while you're there. . . Of course if anyone does actually have a good copy and would be willing to send it for . . . say $20, let me know.

:)

I agree with you Garyhoov that it's part of the experience of being at disney to be able to watch that channel. I think it would be neat to have a tape of but it would make it not a special when I'm there.

Count me in on that one! :animwink: It's really special for me to view the resort channel while I'm staying on property, but I am soooo homesick for the World - watching a tape of it would perk me up and make me feel closer to home! :)

One thing to think about is the signal may be encoded and you would need to decode the signal. In the past ten years with the popularity of Sat dishes in the C-Band range, many uplinks have now been scrambled to prevent the very thing you want to do.

That is what I was thinking...and I dont really have the patenice to decode a signal...that is what the brodcast engineers are for..and why they get the big bucks ;)

Ok...I'll try this thread one last time.

I'm really looking for anyone at all, who may a copy of the entire WDW Resort Channel loop on some sort of video. A few months ago, in this thread, I saw that DISNEYBOY stated he had a copy of it on videotape and was possibly going to post it to POPKID's website. I don't believe anything really came from this yet.

I got an idea from listening to streaming WDW audio from Intercot.com one day. If I had a copy of the loop in MPG, AVI, Divx, etc....then I could create my own screensaver on my PC and use the loop video!! Please, help me make this dream a reality. If anyone has ANY information where I might locate a copy of the WDW Resort Channel loop, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Actually, he did post it. Go into the thread Ride Videos and just get into the IRC. From there they have the entire loop on the server. Just read the last couple pages of that thread if you need help.

I love the WDW Channel too and leave it on all the time when there!

I was trying to find it since you said it was posted, but can't seem to. Can you give us a direct link by any chance?

Thanks!!!!

Just wanted to comment on something I read in this thread from July. They do have the WDW info. channel in the off property GOOD NEIGHBOR resorts. They aren't as detailed though because they don't have to convince you to stay on property. They cut out the Boardwalk section, Dining Section, Spa section, and other little parts that are just for resort guests. They also replace the ultimate park hopper thing with the park hopper plus.

Any hope for those of us who own p.o.s. computers and are pretty clueless about how they work anyway?

I'd love to have the WDW channel on video or cd....:)

Ahhh....finally!!! I got a copy of the FULL loop from the WDW Resort Channel!! :sohappy: I also found a very good screensaver to play video files called "Active Media Player". You can find it at http://www.e-motional.com/activemedia.htm

I am now finally able to run the Resort Channel as my screensaver!!!!! :D

For those who need the info on how to find the video and many other media sources from the various Disney Resorts, you need to use "Mirc", an IRC chat client. If you don't have it, you can D/L it from www.mirc.com

The following is from a post from bamboo7:

"The following are a set of quick instrustions on how to get in the chat room via mirc. When you first start the program, i think it will automatically take you into the mIRC options window. If it doesn't, just go to FILE > Options. Under the 'connect' tab, there is a pulldown menu for the IRC NEtwork. select DalNet from that, and in the pulldown window below that, select whatever dalnet affiliate is closest to you. Then enter something for full name, email address, and nickname.

Now go to the perform tab. Make sure the box is check for 'enable perform on connect'. Now, in the large empty white field, just enter " /j disney-central ", that will make you join our irc room when you start up. Now, just click OK then connect. I think that should get you in. once you get into the irc channel, you can either use the ftp server (info on that is announced every few minutes or so in the channel) or you can use the file server."

The triggers for the channels I can think of are:

!diztunes
!dizvideos
!disneyland
!dca

Good luck, and if you need help...let me know.

This thread hasn't been touched in years...is there by any chance still a way to get the WDW resort guide channel loop for download? I love that channel so much and remember all the way back to when I was 4 years old and Jiminy Cricket used to host it. I would love so much to be able to get a copy of any of the videos from the last several years and I have looked all over the internet and I simply can't find them anywhere... :( Could anyone help me by chance? Thank you so much! If you can, would you mind sending me an email to Squall@bluelionheart.com? Thank you!

Try www.dc-torrents.com

Or you could buy a TV Tuner for a laptop, if you have one, and bring that. You can then record the channel right on to your computer, and if you're so ambitious, record it on DVD.

Bringing a camera that has video inputs won't help you. From what I've seen, none of the TV's down there have video out jacks on them. Unless there's a VCR in your room with video out jacks.
