Recommended rooms in All Star Movies please?

Hi! We're staying at All Star Movies for the first time, and I was wondering if anyone can recommend which building we should stay in? We'd prefer one of the Toy Story ones, but it says somewhere that Toy Story, Fantasia and 101 Dalmatians are all preferred (more expensive) sections? Does that go for all the rooms in all those sections? We don't really like Love Bug or Mighty Ducks.

Does anyone have a building (preferred or not preferred) to recommend? We'd like to be as close to the shuttle bus as possible, but still have a good view of Buzz or Woody or something else fun!

:xmas: Thanks :xmas:

The three preferred buildings (Toy Story, Fantasia, 101 Dalmations) are now all $10 more per night, no matter where your room is in these buildings. Fantasia surrounds the main pool area, and is the closest to the main building/bus stop.

I think the Toy Story rooms are the coolest, having stayed there in 2003. Depending on where you are, you could be very close to the Food Court, or set off further away, which can mean less noise. When we were in the Mighty Ducks building, we actually would get off the bus at All Star Music and walk over to our room, it was faster and closer, believe it or not.

We stayed in the building with the drummer boy from Fantasia, and it was AWESOME! It was great to be so close to the food court and bus stops. At night before we would go to sleep we would run up to the food court, fill up our mugs with water & ice, and be set for the night. The $10/night is 100% worth it!

Have a great trip!

In 2004 the Toy Story buildings were not considered a Preferred location. I believe that all changed in May of 2006, when certain Toy Story, Fantasia, and even Dalmation rooms were changed to Preferred.

Again I believe it is only certain rooms in those buildings, not all. :)

I only stayed at Music before, but I can tell you...I'll pay the extra $10 not to have to walk the whole way through the resort to get to the food court!!!

I personally liked staying further away from things. We were at ASM the first week of December 2006. We stayed in Mighty Ducks on the back side of building #3 so we didn't have any pool noise, the racket of a bunch of people getting off buses or crowds of people coming in and out of the food court. Keep in mind too that these resorts are a lot smaller than the others and not as spread out. The walk from our room to Cinema Hall couldn't have been more than 2 minutes.

Thanks, that's what I was really hoping for, that only certain rooms are preferred! So let's hope you're right!

Does anyone know anything for sure about that?

Replying to myself.. But we've spoken to Disney, and ALL rooms in Dalmatians, Fantasia and Toy Story are preferred. In other words, if you don't want to pay extra, you'll have to get a Love Bug or even worse Mighty Ducks room. (No offence intended to those who like Mighty Ducks, but I just really don't like the film or the location of the buildings!)

Mighty Ducks is great

We stayed in the Mighty Ducks building on our last trip in August 2006. We used the All-Star Music busses to get to the parks just about every day! I could argue (but I won't) that the walk to the All-Star Music bus stop from the Mighty Ducks building is just as short as the walk from the Fantasia building to the All-Star Movies bus stop.

As an added bonus, at the end of a tiring day we felt like we had our choice of busses to take back to our hotel. We could use the Music or Movies bus, and most of the time we just chose to get into the shorter line (and 9 times out of 10 the shorter line was the Music line). We loved it!

One other side note, out of the 3 All-Star resorts, typically Movies is the most-booked up (busy), while Music is the least-booked of the 3.

I hope I don't regret giving away all of our secrets!! LOL

We've stayed in almost all of the bldgs at ASMo. For my money I like Bldg 2, Mighty Ducks. It's not far from the food court, the buses or parking. And as aalready pointed out you can use either the buses for Movies or Music, which ever is less crowded.

My wife and I took our two small children in September 2006 and stayed in the Mighty Ducks section. When I was first considered which section we wanted to stay in, I thought that the Mighty Ducks would be least desired because we had no interest in that movie. However, it turned out to be a great location.

1) First, it was more quiet and very easy to find close parking.

2) Second, as stated above, you can easily use both All-Star Music and All-Star Movies busses. Remember, that during less crowded times, the buses may, at times, circulate to all three All-Stars and Movies is always third.

3) Third, the walk to the other areas is very minimal. If I ever had to run up to the lobby, food court or gift shop for anything it was not inconvenient. Further, it was fun to walk through the other sections when on our way to the lobby. Walking though and visiting the other themeing was fun.

4) Fourth, you have your own pool. We went to both the Fantasia pool and the Mighty Ducks pool. The Fantasia pool was not a far walk and it was fun and exciting, but it was also very nice to go to our own quiet pool for just a quick swim. Going to the Fantasia pool, from any room location, would have been a bit of a production for my clan. However, the Mighty Ducks pool was often quiet with more than enough lounge chairs available.

We went to WDW in Jan/Feb and had two of the best weeks ever!! As I feared, they placed us in Mighty Ducks, and I really didn't like it.. It's far away from everything, and I hated the poster, looked like some kind of Friday 13th horror thing.. So we moved to Toy Story the 2nd day, and we LOVED it there!:king:

I thought it was $10 too!. But when we got there, they told us how much extra we'd have to pay for preferred, and although I can't remember exactly, it was quite a lot more than $10. Plus the tax of course.

Anyway, it's worth it for those who can afford it. But for someone staying a week or two, it could add up to quite a lot of money..

Ask for a prefered room. Its 10 dollars/night more but worth it. Its next to the pool, food court, and the transportation.

Yes, but the walk is much less magical through the parking lot.:)
