Not sure if this is the right area for this & this may be pretty stupid question but here I go.

We will be going to WDW in May & I am looking to take lots of video as this will be the first time we are taking our 18 month old twin boys. That said, how/where can I recharge my camcorder battery while in the park?? I would rather not have to purchase a new battery for backup.

Thanks!

How long does it take to charge? I'm not sure where you might be able to do it, but do you want to lose that much park time?

How long does a charge last?

My brother always went with 2 batteries, both fully charged overnight in the hotel room, he would need to switch them just about halfway thru the day.

Only takes about 1/2 an hour for a full charge. I currently have 2 batteries that last about 1 1/2 hours each. I was figuring if they had outlets in some restaurants I could do it while eating lunch, dinner, etc. Also we go to the kennels 2 times during the day to let our dog out so it could also be done then.

I`d imagine outlets in any public area would be covered / switched off when not in use for safetys sake. Though I do tend to go a bit over the top with footage :D I have 4 new batteries I charge up overnight, and not have to worry about charging again until the following night.

Once before at WDW, I plugged in a dead cell phone for a quick charge. I just looked for an outlet and did it, much like I routinely do in airports, etc. I don't know if any of the CM's cared, or would have tried to stop me if they had seen me -- none did, as I had it plugged in for 5 minutes. I believe this was in Epcot near the Fountainview.

I have never looked to see whether outlets are easy to find in guest areas or not. Obviously, the ideal would an outlet in a restaurant, so you could charge while you eat and not lose any incremental time.

I would venture to guess that you could find outlets in bathrooms if you checked. And you can definitely find them at the baby changing centers (one in each park) -- not what the centers are there for, but I doubt they'd mind if you ask really nicely. This would, of course, result in wasted/lost time.

Dolbyman advised me to check ebay, which I just did.
Grabbed a 6000mAh for around $15.00. No need to charge in the parks!

BTW Martin, I don't think I will be close to touching the amount of great footage you do LOL.

Just for future information, the camera centers at each park will allow you to charge your battery there free of charge. They have a small assortment of chargers available for your use, or you can also use yours. If you decide to leave your battery/charger at the camera center while it's charging, you'll be issued a claim ticket to come back later and reclaim it/them.

There's got to be a mistake. Disney doing something free of charge?:ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Perhaps they were confused by the thought of charging for a charge. :hammer:

When I went in 2000 with a camcorder, I took three batteries and a charger with me. I had one on the charger at the hotel, one in the bag and the last in the camera.

When the one in the camera dies I switched them out with the one in the bag. Then around 2pm I would head back to the hotel and put the dead one on the charger and place the fresh in the bag.

For me ever since I started to video I've always had more than one battery. Makes it easier, it would be similar to going to the parks with only one set of batteries for the digital camera.:animwink:

Im sure thoughif you needed to there would be no problem finding a plug. Ive seen more than one person with their ECV pluged in there.

The time you'll save by having an extra battery will make up the price in the convenience you'll get not needing to charge it. Or just go back to the hotel for a mid-day break (which I think is necessary ANYWAY) to recharge the battery AND yourself.

Well, you could always find a power outlet somewhere and just sit with it.

Or you could buy the second battery and maximize your fun time.
