Reason For Closing AE

AE was a bit scary to me. I can still feel that alien breathing on my neck if I think about it. But, the biggest complaint was the harness! It was terribly uncomfortable. I, too, pushed it up withmy hands before it locked.

As far as it being too scary, I'm sure for really young kids, it would scare the crap out of them, but there were enough warning signs. It just amazes me how people ignore warning signs and then blame Disney because 'little Johnny wet his pants because he was so scared." :brick: I would guess that the scare factor was NOT the reason it was closed. Hopefully, Stitch, will be a great ride/show and everyone will enjoy it. I'm looking forward to the reports on it as I will not be at WDW for at least another year.

I thought it was revolutionary. It WAS unsettling the first time, because there wasn't anything like it in any other park I've ever been to.

That said, Stitch SEEMS like a step forward. From what has been posted, it sounds like it will appeal to most of the people who liked AE, and will add the younger crowd.

Tomorrowland is hard to keep futuristic. 20 years ago it seemed outdated, and the additions of Buzz LIghtyear over Dream Flight, Timekeeper over Circlevision 360 and AE over Mission to Mars were really good. Now the cycle is starting over.

I will give Stitch a fair chance, but I really liked AE. And as for unbearable screaming of terrified children, please don't get me started. If height requirements and warning signs aren't enough . . . :zipit: :zipit: :zipit:

Jeffrey Jones (who portrayed LC Clench) was involved in a child case.

I'm sure that may have been a factor in the closure, but wasn't Paul Reubens (otherwise known as ______-Wee Herman), the voice of REX in Star Tours, involved in something similar?

From what I understand, it was closed because of attendance and complaints. If only those parents had read the warning signs....thanks to them, we've lost another original attraction to an animated character.

If I understood correctly, there were 2 rooms for that attraction. Too bad they couldn't leave one for non kids (AE) and make the other for kids (SGE). That would be the best of both worlds.

That would have been the greatest thing management has ever done, but then again, it wouldn't be possible because of the two pre-show rooms.

If they use head-sets, they can make it like the U.N. where you need the head-set to hear the translators interpreting the story in the courtroom...

just a thought

Oh. That's why they wear those. :brick: :hammer:

The one time I went on AE, I was 8, and I LOVED it. My restraint didn't go down all the way, and my aunt and uncle, sitting on either side of me, weren't sure if it would be OK, so the each put a hand over to hold me in.

My son, six at the time, loved SGE. He cried when I told him he'll never see it again thanks to Eisner.

He was also teary eyed over kong closing at universal. :lookaroun

Guess it's a guy thing. ;) lol I'm just grateful they didn't replace it with some princess show.
