subtly maybe, although the guy saying "If I have to hug one more princess" must be gay since those princesses are pretty hot.....

I've never had a problem hugging princesses for just the reason... :lookaroun

I seriously doubt it. Disney's so much better than that. I like seeing Disney commercials where they show what they have to offer, and show kids being kids rather than slamming the competitor.

What could Disney say in their commercial?

1. BE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE AND DO NOT GO TO THAT OTHER PARK
2. BIG GREEN ORGES NOT YOUR THING???
3. WANT TO COME TO A THEME PARK THAT ACTUALLY HAS IMAGINATION?
4. HOW CAN YOU RIDE THE MOVIES? COME TO WDW AND EXPERIENCE MAGIC.

All Disney has to do is point to their attendance numbers to "get back" at Universal...Honestly, I find the commercials somewhat amusing, however I don't think the ads are going to help them get MORE people through the door...:D

It's been said before, but I'll say it again.
The commercials paint this picture...
Disney: Families who like having fun together.
Universal: Bratty kids who would rather be shot in the face than be seen with their little brother and their mommy.

I think the "who goes to bed at 7?" a low blow. Disney parks, even in the off season never closes before 7....and even by chance they do, there's a TON more things to do! I hate universal for these commercials alone (not to mention the clientele that attends that park....makes it like my local Six Flags Great Adventure)

ditto. Universal can have those kind of families.

Me and my family enjoy Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure....

While we do not visit those parks as frequently as we visit WDW, we still like them. Personally I've been bothered by people in the WDW crowd, more than by people in the Uni crowd....and while some differences are evident, most of the people visiting these parks in Orlando are on a family vacation.

Stop resisting the temptation...visit Universal Orlando. :D

rewording myself from another thread:
The differences in the ads really show the differences in the two companys' philosophies. In the Disney ads, instead of cynical mouthy kids of the current consumerist entightlement generation, we see genuine children doing exactly what children should do, play and wonder. Hopefully the marketing department is now getting what they failed to understand when DCA was created. Disney shouldn't try to be "hip and relavent", it just comes across as "cynical and irritating", just like the Universal ads.

Although probably not done intentionally, the new WDW commerical with the two boys talking about going to Mars and then showing MS and EE could be considered Disney's answer to Universal. Showing that Disney is not all Princesses and little kid stuff.

Besides, after spending so much time in the real world, it is really great to be able to be a little kid again!

It's a 7 or 8 year old girl who says that line. Well, whatever anyone thinks of that commercial, hopefully it will help send her to college if she wants to go.

Eventually Universal will understand by mentioning the competition in their commerical they are advertising them for free! Pepsi learned this way back during the big Coke vs. Pepsi commercials. Now they rarely mention the opposition.

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
