Rapunzel's tower has arrived.

Good point. They also tend to lack names. The Prince, Prince Charming and Once Selfish Little Brat aren't exactly an easy way of communicating who you are seeing.
Beast's name is Prince Adam. Apparently the dude from Snow White is Ferdinand going off 30s-era Disney comics that also gave the Evil Queen the name of Grimhilde.

I believe "Ferdinand" was a misinterpretation of a speech Shirley Temple gave to Walt when he recieved the Oscar for Snow White. It's the name of the bull from the Silly Symphony short.

But what specifically is being balanced besides some new stuff here and new stuff there? Is this bathroom complex equivalent to the other work that has been done in Fantasyland? Does it counter-point another visual element? Is it supposed to be a start of adding more of that visual style? This is what perplexes me about the tower. I see a strong visual language with nothing behind it.

The old Skyway Station was the center piece of the Bavarian Village end of Fantasyland, now the Tower is, and the castel/renaissance fair, Bavarian Village theme of Fantasyland was supposed to represent old world Europe, which you then transition to new world America of Liberty Square...

I know they don't generally bother with this kind of thing anymore, but in this case I think it works

Me, I'm not that optimistic.

A cartoon fantasy towetr asd the centerpiece of a real-life Bavarian village? That is supossed to efoortlessly transition into colonial north America?
I'll have to wait and see the final product, but I think it will produce a drastic destruction of theme. Then again, the MK is slowly being rebuild as a storybook cartoon park. A kind of Dr. Seuss Landing Park. At some point, it will be the Hall of Presidents, the riverboat, nods to real human beings that will look like hopeless thematic misfits. place.

That looks a little too close to Liberty Square. o.o I feel like it's just been shoved in the middle of all the other stuff. I mean the tower looks great, but the placement is eh....

My thoughts after seeing the tower and area a week or two ago.
From Fantasyland it looks great. It integrates well into the area, and the view down the walkway through Peter Pan and Small world is fantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing the end result with the walls down.
From the other side though, I was not as happy with it. Let me say I didnt HATE it, or think it ruined my life, the parks, or even Frontierland or Liberty Square. It did though intrude more than I expected. There were some views that I saw (will have to see if I have any pictures) where it looked like it was going to be very hard (impossible) to hide it fully. There was one view from Frontierland that kind of shocked me at how much the tower stuck out like a sore thumb.
Personally though, and this is my opinion, it adds more to Fantasyland than it takes away from Frontierland/Liberty Square, so it still counts as a win in my book. Your opinions may vary.

Who knows, maybe on certain days this year once its open, being that it's LTM in the parks, maybe we will see Taylor Swift in a Rapunzel costume letting down her hair and sitting/posing for attention much like the recent Disney Portrait photo on the Tangled area tower. Then minutes later, Lou, George and his partner, and Phil all pop out of the tower window and swoop down.

It's intruding on the perfect segues between the lands of Magic Kingdom, like the balding of the hub revealing Tomorrowland and the Contemporary from Liberty Square. Once again, what I consider the crown jewel of the Magic Kingdom lands gets the shaft. I don't have much hope for the new walkway. I see it being similarly theme-killing and intrusive.

You mean Rapunzel didn't always live within view of the Haunted Mansion? (though I do suppose Mother Gothel lives there now...)

Yikes! I read a whole thread about restrooms.

I just wanted to add that I saw Rapunzel's tower last week, and while it is really beautiful and true to the movie... it is extremely jarring to see it from The Haunted Mansion area or from Tom Sawyer Island. Standing at Aunt Polly's porch it was the most noticeable thing to me. I hope that the comments that trees will eventually block it from Liberty Square are true, because right now it is really unsettling.

My other comment is that time is extremely fluid in the Magic Kingdom. My child asked Ariel at her Grotto why she sometimes has her dress and sometimes has her fin. Ariel gave her a very long-winded (a la Ariel) and impressive answer. I am sure that if a child asked Rapunzel a similar question about her hair, they would get a similarly detailed and logical answer. (p.s. character performers... you are amazing people.)
