Rapid Fill Mug Program Fails (at more ways than you might think)

One Little Spark...
The real dumb part of this is that your unable to reuse the mug for returning trips and lately they have been using the same design for nearly 3 or more years now.

They could at least have a reactivating fee for a cheaper deal rather than throwing the flippin mug away and having to blow another $20 to get another one each and every trip...I swear will be seeing hundreds of the Mugs at Resale shops in the near future..
That's what I do every trip, since I get the Dining Plan that has the mug already. No reason to keep them...the only thing that changes year to year are the lid / handle colors...and it's not like they are great quality mugs to begin with, so, I won't want to use it in my normal day to day. The handle causes trouble with cupholders, and the lid doesn't completely seal.

Meh. In the trash at the end of the trip.

The difference is that anywhere you go, you do not expect that what you purchased with free refills carries over from visit to visit. McDonalds has free refills, but you buy a new drink every time you go in. One doesn't bring back a paper cup from last April and just walk up to the dispenser and fill it up.

Sorry to correct you but I know several people (including myself) and many more in Chicago who walk into McDonalds, fill up old plastic cups and walk out. If you have a plastic cup - you are good to go.

Still - who needs more than 3 x 16 oz of soda at one quick service meal sitting?
On a 94 degree day with a heat indexof 108, I can drop 32 oz before leaving the machine. It just now takes 4+ minutes of bonus wait time to get that 3rd fill so I can sit down and eat.

Yes, I drink a lot. Grew up in the south. We drink a lot.

Again, why is it so important for people to make assumptions about others?

In the summer I can drop a 44oz every 90 minutes and not pee for 6 hours. I use fluids in the heat. Why is that such a problem for you?

I'm gonna guess that you're originally from the Midwest. :)
You and @unkadug are off your rockers! Coke is a brand name. Diet Pepsi isn't Coke (or coke.) Soda is that fizzy stuff you mix with other things to make drinks (e.g. Scotch and Soda). I know there are a variety of other things (I won't even get into how ridiculous "cold drink" is), but that covers the big two.

MUCH of the country calls it "pop." Google "pop soda" and look at the map. (I'd have cut and pasted but can't figure out how.)

But Yes, I'm a transplant. I did not grow up in Orlando. Occasionally, some smarty-pants who knows exactly what I mean will ask, "Do you mean soda?" as if they never heard it called "pop" before, but since there are many transplants here (nearly everyone my age or older relocated to Orlando), I'm not the only one around saying "pop."

OMG. I can't believe the amount of likes and quotes I got alerts on for on that one little post!

Now I have to go back and read the thread. :)

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Not a problem for me. A little defensive?

Then you must surely gets your money's worth from the refillable mug.

Canadians, apparently drink half the soda/pop of our American friends. Perhaps I am speaking from a North of the Border bias.

I personally have never downed 3 sodas in 1/2 hour. Too much sugar. Too much carbonation. Too much bloat.

Well, I got to page five (and even skimmed some of what I read.)

Pop refills are just not a subject on which I'm going to read twelve pages of debate. I understand that some take this very seriously and am not belittling their deep and abiding interest! I'm interested in ridiculous, unimportant, trivial subjects, too! Just not this one. :)

I use the term soda. Down here (when ordering) diet, it tends to mean Diet Coke. Pretty sure I was somewhere in the SW when I ordered a 'diet' and was surprised when they brought me a Diet Dr. Pepper.

Why are you assuming everyone is drinking sugar? They have the light lemonades in all of the machines
