Rape near Disney

this poor girl...my sympathies are with her...

And as for Ghostbuster. My question to you is how else are we supposed to take a statement like "where can I sign up? I want to see this maddness" in a thread about a girl being raped? To most, normal people, we take that to mean a horrible thing that I don't even want to discuss. Rape is not a subject that is to be taken lightly. Just ask any female...myself included. It is a fear we have to live with day in and day out. Sometimes, I run to my car for fear that there may be someone in the shadows lurking for me. And I live in a relatively safe town.

Now I don't care what you "meant" by you comments...thinking before speaking is always the right thing to do! (Especially on message boards such as these!)

Oh and by the way...how on earth did you plan to investigate these alligations? What difference would it make if you did? I can tell you, none. And even if you did find something, what on earth would you do if you found the alligations to be true? I can guarantee that it will take more than a tip off from a random person to get the media to take a look at what you may have found. The media get plenty of tip offs everyday about hot stories...why would they believe you?

Ghostbuster, I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt on these boards, but you really are a troll! I have seen you do nothing productive on these boards in the entire time you've been here. Please, just leave. No one wants you here. AND, even if you did have some good points to contribute to our community, (which I'm sure many of us here question that) you have alienated just about any person who would even listen to you.

(Oh, by the way, go Rob for calling him out for it! :sohappy: )

In Internet terminology, a troll is a person who posts rude or offensive messages on the Internet, such as on online discussion forums, to disrupt discussion or to upset its participants. "Troll" can also mean the message itself or be a verb meaning to post such messages. "Trolling" is also commonly used to describe the activity.

And there ya go......
WELL THANK YOU VERY MUCH! THAT PICTURE SAYS IT ALL ....Thanks, Horizons78, for the reply!!!

Words cannot describe how awesome this post is. As for Ghostbuster trying to defend himself about his completely out of line comment, nice try, but no one is buying it. Save yourself and everyone else the trouble and go away.

thank you...I speak the truth...and sometimes it's better from a woman's perspective...especially one who is around the same age as the girl who got raped

Yes, I feel so bad for women and having to put up with the fear of getting raped. I have a younger sister who's 17 and if she ever got raped, I would most likely do the same thing others have said, spend the rest of my life in jail for murder, and it wouldn't be a quick murder either...:lookaroun Sorry for the evil imagery, I just have no tolerance for rapists.

As a person specially trained in the procedures for dealing with victims of serious sexual offences I understand what the poor girl has gone through and has probably still got to face before these offenders are brought to justice.

My thoughts are with you

Horrible. and I know disney doesn't normally comment, but in this situation I hope they put out a "we deported their behinds" statement. Something to say that they do not tolerate this behavior anywhere within the company, from the lowest initiate on up.

As a former CP I really hope this doesn't turn into another bashing of the College Program. The program is a wonderful program that I really think gets a bad rap most of the time. What happened was just terrible but does not make the program or every other CP bad. Security is very tight at all Disney housing complexes especially throughout the past few years. However, from what I understand this was not always the case. The security is extremely strict with guests and underage drinking. I know many people who were terminated on the spot for breaking the rules. When your caught you have 24 hours to get off property, and yes the Commons is most definitely Disney property.

Having attended the little CP meeting/presentation they do on college campuses (so people could join etc) I left with the impression that they weeded out the bad apples at the interviews....looks like the people they have doing the interviews aren't all that good...THAT or...all they care about is getting people to WDW to pay them the low wages and work them to death so who care....:brick:

For those who know the system...what are the chances things may change in the future for the better?

This isn't the first time its happened, and due to its location, Disney may try to say that it didnt happen on Disney property, which it is. Something might happen, but unless it's a CM raping a guest in the parks/PI, I doubt anything major will happen. Hopefully it does.

Since the majority of the members don't think you're welcome here (myself included), why don't you go here instead? This site will suit you much better.

Hi Nibbles; good point you made about the fear that we live with about being raped. From the time we are little girls we are taught in fearful half-whispers that strangers will hurt you, that we shouldn't walk alone at night, etc. The sad truth of the matter is that 1 in 4 women have been or will be raped in their lifetime, and the majority of them by people that they know. Sometimes by a co-worker, or a "friend" or even by a lover. For those women like me who have been raped, in a supposedly "safe" place by someone they trust, it rocks the foundation of your very existence. If there is anything that can be said about this incident, it is that nowhere is completely safe, because there will always be people who think they can get away with it and people who encourage disrespect towards women.

Now, I will admit that men are almost as likely to be assaulted, but you simply do not hear about it as often. They do not come forward with allegations as often as women, perhaps because they feel that they will not be believed. Men tend to feel that they should have been able to fight the attacker off. Sometimes they even begin to question their own orientation...

Which is why comments like, "That is so gay!" bother me. There is nothing gay about this thread... if you want to talk about gayness, there is a thread for that in the PML.

i can see why the story may indicate it happened on disney property, because the commons, vista way, and chatham square are disney owned property for international and college program participants...and everyone who lives and works there are in fact disney employees...

Are we sure that this is Disney property? My understanding is that Disney rents those apartments from some company and then charges rent.

Disney owns the land they sit on and is the sole tenant of the complex, but the buildings themselves are owned by Chase Manhattan Bank and were incorporated as Commons Multi-Family LLC, by CT Corporation System of Plantation, FL. They were originally owned by Gables Realty LP of Houston, TX. They are managed by Price Management, which oversees security and day-to-day operations.

Funny thing, NorthBridge apartments, Disney's newest Intern housing community, located near Millenia, is not managed by Price unlike the other 3. It is managed by Concord Management Limited, which does not issue ID cards, does not issue parking decals, and does not provide security guards. And the CM's living there have their own cars, and can have guests sleep over. Then again, only 50% of it is for CP's... the remaining are single family residences.

As I stated before...how on earth do you expect normal people to take the comments that you made then? ANd if you want to join the college program because of the other things mentioned in this post...the only thing I really see mentioned in the thread is about the drug use that happens, the outrageous amount of alcohol consumption, etc...so yes, you can see why people would call you out on your comments.

And when we said leave...we didn't mean the conversation...we meant WDWMagic as a whole. Leave our little community alone!!! :brick:

Luna...I'm sorry for what happened to you...that's horrible. Luckily nothing like that has happened to me...but we all have to be careful. You never know who the next victim will be because you are right...1 in 4 women will be abused in their lifetime.
