Rain?

We like to resort hop. One year we started at the Wilderness Lodge, grabbed a cup of hot chocolate and just enjoyed being there for awhile. We found the pressed penny machine and made one from the Lodge, then we hopped on the boat to the contemporary. We walked around and made another pressed penny. Then rode the monorail to the Poly and Grand Floridian and made pressed pennies there, too.

We've always thought it would be fun to check out some of the resorts we've not been to yet, but we usually don't have the extra time to spare. It might be fun to also check out the pools - if they allow that. Will any KTTW card work? I remember at the Boardwalk, we had to have our card to access the gate to the pool but others have been out in the open.

We've always thought it would be fun to check out some of the resorts we've not been to yet, but we usually don't have the extra time to spare. It might be fun to also check out the pools - if they allow that. Will any KTTW card work? I remember at the Boardwalk, we had to have our card to access the gate to the pool but others have been out in the open.

Don't know about the pools, but checking out the decor and shops of other resorts is something that we've always enjoyed.
The lobby of Boardwalk is a plethora of sights, as are the lobbies of the Beach and Yacht Clubs. And in Saratoga Springs there is a portrait gallery of Disney horses, including the best one of all, Maximus. The Contemporary and Polynesian are classics of course, as was the Disney Inn before its transformation into Shades of Green. Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are wonders of design, style and decoration and Art of Animation has cool figures from The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, etc. around the various themed sections of the resort.

And the wife says, "Don't forget that each resort has SHOPPING!"

I embrace the rain! Some of our best days have been rained out, soaking wet days in the parks. If you commit to "I'm going to get soaked but I'm going to have fun" its great. No lines, no crowds. The parks will be yours. The people who have problems are the ones wrapping a dozen ponchos around themselves desperately trying not to get a drop of water on them, huddled under covered spots. If that's more your style- hit DisneyQuest like others said, but keep in mind you won't be the only one with that idea.
I said it before but for the longest time, I totally wrote off AK. Had practically zero appeal to me- til we went on a rainy day. It was cool from the plants and rain, the park was empty, we rode Everest 10 times no wait and had a blast with rain whipping in our faces. My view of that park did a 180 once we went in the rain.

Many years ago we woke up to a rather intense storm. The kids were 12, 10 and 8. Hollywood Studios, which was relatively new at the time, was our "park of the day" per the wife's schedule. As we lived outside Atlanta in those days and had a giant van, we used to drive to WDW. <gas was a lot cheaper too>. The wife, like Felix The Cat, reached into her bag of tricks and came out with 3 ponchos and 2 foldup umbrellas and off we went. I've never seen a park so empty before or since. We went thru HS twice that day with multiple rides on anything the kids wanted. Ate at Sci-Fi, no reservations and no wait, no wait at the M & G's, it was like the park was closed to all but us.
On our last trip the wife and I were in Epcot when the skies opened up. Alas, no bag of tricks available. People scattered like rabid aliens were shooting rays of death at them. The wife laughed and said, "We're gonna get wet Big Fella, let's have some fun". We grabbed some brewskis and kept on trucking. Drowned rats for sure and laughed the entire time. There were many brewskis involved.

HEY I know that spot my daughter got over whelmed with the crowds one day when we were there and we found this spot to be very easy for her. She could sit and watch what was going on without having to feel the pressure to hurry hurry hurry. It was great to just sit there and relax when we went

I don't think you are allowed to pool hop unless you are a DVC member staying at a DVC resort. Even then, you cannot use the pool at BLT, Kidani, or Stormalong Bay. Plus, there are blackout dates when you cannot pool hop at any of them. We have rented Surrey bikes at some of the resorts, it's a good way to see the grounds.

Details, details. yes, it had been raining all day. One of those November rains when a cold front was moving through. It was so windy and cold. The boat ride to the Contemporary from the Wilderness Lodge was as exciting as any attraction.

You can visit any hotel you want, but you can only swim at your own. I've been in all the big pools and many of the small ones. Your pool won't be any better or worse than any other. You can go look at the pools, though, if you want. But I know its so hard to be near a pool and not get in!

All you need is ID. I don't know if hotel ID counts or not. If you're a bus rider, you don't even need ID. Just get off the bus.

Just keep going! Seriously, some of my best days at WDW have been when it rains. It clears the parks out a bit and the wimps all hide under overhangs so they can't take up spots in line anyways.

Either bring a poncho or light jacket (or do without... Usually would do that with light rain). Have a small backpack or in my case, I use a draw string Nike bag as well as some plastic baggies. You can use them to store your cell phone, wallet, and anything else you might care about getting wet. And then they are doubly protected by the bag. If you are out off by the possibility of wet shoes, I always brought a pair of sandals that I use to go on water rides or if it rains. And those plastic bags can definitely hold a pair of dry socks. Quick dry clothes are good too... Mesh shorts, work out type shirts tend to dry quick and are cool for hen it isn't raining.

Some rides do close, yes, if it rains, but a decent amount stay open too. And while everyone else goes running for their hotel rooms or an overhang, you can keep up the fun.
