Rain?

I have a bad feeling we will get a lot of rain at WDW the week of april 13-20.

What's the best way to deal with a lot of rain? I don't mind an afternoon shower but what do you do when it rains all day long several days in a row?

People will soon be along to say that it doesn't rain in Orlando for more than 20 minutes. Don't believe it, lol. It can rain for a brief time, but it can rain a lot, too. No way to know.

DisneyQuest and Splitsville aren't bad options. And if you like to shop, you can kill time at the WoD store.

If there is no lightening (unlikely, but...), swim! Disney will generally kick people out before lightening comes, but if you see any (even far off) or hear the thunder, get out.

Out in the Orlando area, there is Titanic, Wonder Works, Ripley's, a bunch of dinner shows.

All indoor places get crowded when it rains a lot.

I think it's a good idea to plan for rain, so you'll know what you want to do if it rains. And I hope it doesn't!

It rained a lot on our last trip too (more than usual...the afternoon rains in August are to be expected, but we had several days where it was overcast and then would rain for hours)...

If it's a light steady rain, just slap on your ponchos and have at it!

For heavier squalls that blow through, sometimes the park (especially parts of Magic Kingdom, I've noticed) will flood up. Keep an eye out for good places to camp out until it passes. I have little spots all over the park that I like to hide out with the kid at when heavy rains start up.

For example, at Magic Kingdom, if it starts up and we are in / around Liberty Square, I try to high tail it to the side of the Hall of Presidents. They have a little porch on the side with rockers where you can sit.

Then, once I get the kid settled, I hop over to Sleepy Hollow literally next door) and snag a coffee and a hot chocolate and a funnel cake. We munch on that while we wait for the rain to subside to "poncho" weather again.

Just bring a poncho and if its heavy enough, find shelter to hang out and wait it out you'll love the parks once it stops! It cools off the day, freshens the air and crowds go waaaay down!

Go to EPCOT almost everything is indoors so you will only get wet between the buildings! Besides who cares I rather be soaked in the world than dry at home!

Rain!!!! What's to be scared of? Worried about getting wet? Grab a poncho. Don't worry about the weather spoiling your fun or you'll never have any.

The way we talk about drinking, I don't think any of us are 'dry' at home!!!

I was there when a Tropical Storm decided to spend its vacation hovering over WDW....it was like being in the Winnie the Pooh story...'and the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down...'

Don't let it bother you - yea, pool time might be lacking, but grab a poncho and head out. Remember, the rain is keeping a lot of people away so your lines will be much shorter.

Make it an adventure, plan your route to maximize indoor time and figure out where you can seek cover if the monsoon kicks in....

Just don't sit in the room and feel like your vacation is being washed away. Get out and find some magic!!

We had a lot of rain last trip in late August, and it didn't bother us too much. The only real issue was that Tink's flight during Wishes was cancelled, which disappointed the niece and nephew, but other than that we just donned the ponchos and kept going.

We always bring a bunch of dollar store ponchos (one for each person per day), and when the rain stops you just chunk it in the trash. Much easier than trying to keep up with a wet poncho in between showers/park days.

Bring a rain jacket, and shoes that can get wet. When rain starts, put on said rain jacket, and keep on trucking. All the indoor attractions stay open, so why not keep going?

I was just thinking the same thing. I have been caught in rain a few time in the world and it was the BEST rain EVER. It even smells different than "normal" rain.

Rain = less crowds. Dress for success ie clothes that dry quick, ponchos, extra shoes at your room, etc.. We go in June and regularly get rain both from small little sprinkles to lengthier gushers. It's warm, you aren't going to catch pneumonia. Take advantage of the fact that when it rains, people flee like roaches in the light. You can knock out some serious attractions in a fraction of the time, wait less for QS meals, and actually see parts of the park generally overlooked due to crowding.
