I'm trying Ranglan Road for dinner. I checked the menu and I'm still undecided. I though I might go traditional and try bangers and mash or sheppards pie but I have no idea what they are! Any suggestions would be great.

Hi!

Bangers and Mash are basically sausages and mashed potatoes. Shepards Pie is a ground beef (could also be veal or lamb) "pie" with usually carrots and peas and mashed potatoes as the topping. Usually in a brown sauce. Both very tasty!! :slurp: These are also good choices if dining at Rose and Crown!

If it is Shepards Pie it is lamb (Shepards herd sheep not cattle), if it was beef it would be called Cottage Pie

Here you go - Directly from the Raglan menu - Shepherds Pie can be made with beef. :slurp:

Keen eye for the Shepherds Pie $17.50
-we give the traditional Shepherd's pie (prime beef and lamb) a little makeover with our contemporary twist to this favorite dish

Shepherd's Pie at Raglan Road is not like Shepard's Pie at the local diner [no "carrots and peas" here]! It is a wonderful Chef's creation of beef and lamb with mashed potato and gravy [not thickened, but gravy nonetheless]. I had it in August and it was delicious! :slurp:

Similarly, the sausage in the Traditional Guinness & Onion Banger isn't Bob Evan's sausage, but a top-quality pork sausage accompanied by sauteed onions and top-notch mashed. All under a Guinness sauce that is devine! :slurp:

I highly recommend the Scallop Forest as an appetizer - it's to die for! :D

Fair enough but what I wrote earlier is the traditional way (English member here!).

I would go Fish and Chips at Raglan Road. In my quest to find the best fish and chips in the world, Raglan Road has ranked at the number one position now since it opened. :D

I won't be much help in your decision but I can tell you this, I have been going to Raglan Rd since day one, have tried every dish on their menu and have never been disappointed with the food. The biggest problem I have there is deciding what I want. I have on occasion actually told the server to surprise me.

I have had almost everything on the menu at Raglan Road... I ADORE that place! The only thing I've had there that I didn't like was the black pudding... just not my thing. :lookaroun But it was on a plate with a bunch of different meat that were all amazing!

And speaking of puddings... Ger's Bread & Butter Pudding for dessert is just about the most amazing, decadent dessert I've ever had!!! Mmmmmmm...

I had the Shephard's Pie 2 year ago, and did the Fish & Chips last year - both were amazing. And I second the Bread Pudding for dessert - yummy!!

Not going to make it there this next trip, unfortunately:cry: - tried to get as much character dining in for the 2 little ones this time........
