Rafiki's Planet Watch

Yeah the place is kind of a snooze fest! I have always felt it may have been a better fit somewhere on Discovery Island or Camp Minnie Mickey when it was a land, allowing the train to be used as transportation between Africa and Asia.

Except the reason the building is there is because veterinary services are located near to the animal sleeping areas. In fact they could have done even more to provide a window onto backstage veterinary things or food prep etc.

The other issue of course is that the petting zoo doesn't really fit thematically into Africa or Asia and it wouldn't quite work on Discovery Island.

My biggest issue is the walk from the station to planet watch, why couldn't the train station have been built slightly closer?

Sorry, I can't agree. I have seen surgeries performed there. Got to see some animals close up and learn more about them. I have seen butterflies emerging from their cocoons there. Rafiki's is always an interesting experience for me.

The first room when you get inside has about 200 hidden mickeys. They are literally all over the place there. You could spend about 45 minutes trying to find them all.
This! My wife and I love searching for the Hidden Mickeys here. My 2 year old loves the petting zoo and the train ride. Plus the chance to potentially see surgery on an animal and to learn about the work they are doing makes this area worth while in my opinion...however if the option was to keep it or get rid of it and put in another couple of attractions I would not be upset to see it go.

Well then maybe it would have been a better option to make this area another continent or add more animal exhibits that would fill out the area making it a more well rounded destination.

Still having a train stop in Asia would have been a nice addition!

I always find Rafiki's Planet Watch to be really relaxing. It's quiet and is a great place to step away from the craziness of the rest of the park. I love talking to the cast members there, they're all really knowledgable and nice and will answer any questions you have. And of course it's always amazing to watch a surgery take place right in front of your eyes.
