We are planning to go to DCA on Tuesday , April 30. The EMM is for Disneyland that day. So that mean DCA opens at 10am....the Touring Plan is predicting very low crowds for DCA , something like a2.5 out of 10.... So to make sure we get Fast Passes for RRS or the chance to ride RRS , what time do we need to be at the gate before opening? Also how can you get Fast Passes for return the evening to experience the ride at night? Or can someone please give me suggestions or advice...we don't have EMM tickets , just 4 day Park Hopper, and we are not staying at a Disney Hotel...

As it's only a 2.5 my advice is get there for rope drop and get a Fast pass right away . The only way to get an evening fast pass would be to keep checking the distribution signs which would be a waste of your time... With that in mind i would come back of an evening and go in single rider (depending on how many in your party and if you're not with very young kids).

This is what we did and it worked out great... We got to do RSR first thung AND at night which is BEAUTIFUL and got off just in time for WOC.

If you want Fast Passes whenver you want just be sure to be there before the gates open, then you will get a Fast Pass in the next few hours.

Planing to get them for night is almost impossible as they go out pretty quickly and you can't really plan it.

So I'd say take AswaySullers advice, take the single riders. Last August we waited for max 20 minutes that way and sometimtes even ended up in the same car or mostly in the car racing the other :)

You don't have much time to talk during the ride so it doesn't matter you are not really together.

Then do the following: Be at the gates 10-15 minutes before they open. When they open walk to the fastpasses.

Get them so you can all ride together during day. Then at evening go to single riders to ride it at evening (its' a MUST, its really beautiful at night).

Last August no. I haven't been since then so I don't know. I don't think so. I guess it will probably during World of Color but you shouldn't miss that show.

You can always ask the CM there how long it takes about.

It gets a bit quieter later but not by much....

If your child is 5 I would say get a fast pass for the day and just get in line of an evening.... If its not too busy you should be ok... But may miss WOC... However you CAN get fast passes for WOC so that may be an option.

Cross your fingers that the newness will have worn off a bit by August. Otherwise I would say get your fast pass at rope drop and don't try to ride it at night. Unless the newness factor is way down you can expect very long lines regardless of how empty the park is. I have seen the park so empty that you could literally ride California Scream'n walk off and just run back on with out more than a minute of wait time, and still RRS was a 2-3 hour wait.

I think RSR will start to see some mild decline in fall 2013 on schooldays - otherwise, I don't think there'll be a marked change in wait times until sometime in 2014. Anyone remember how long it took for Indy to wear down after it opened in 95?

Indy still hasn't really wined down lol.

I agree 2 years ago in the fall we were there on a school day and Indy still had a line out to the front. Haven't been back since they did the refurb of it this past fall but I can only imagine it got a new bump of life... Maybe Lucas wasn't able to kill it like I thought with the Crystal Skull.

Can you have one adult do the fast pass line w/everyone's ticket media while the rest of the group goes directly to Carsland to do Radiator Springs Racers? If the standby line is under 20 minutes after the first run, I'd queue up & do it again. By then your fast pass runner might be there to do the second run with the whole group.
